This is an open shooting investigation with no named suspect and no charge. Ten rounds into a conference room and an office are tied to Friday night. Tuesday is a second burst of gunfire at the same building, and police have not said it was the same person. The station's own first write-up dated Friday as Oct. 12. Oct. 12 was a Monday. The updated station story dates Friday as Oct. 9. That date is the one that matches the calendar.
KBAK/KBFX reported that police are investigating a second shooting at the stations' shared studio in Bakersfield. The station said the first shooting was Friday night, Oct. 9, 2026, and the second was early Tuesday morning, Oct. 13. No one was hurt in either shooting. No arrest has been made in either one. An earlier version of the station's own story said the Friday shooting was on Oct. 12, 2026. Oct. 12 was a Monday, not a Friday. A Sinclair partner page carrying the earlier copy dated the shooting Friday, Oct. 9, at around 10 p.m. The station's updated story uses Oct. 9 for Friday and Oct. 13 for the second shooting. BNO News, citing the stations, reported the Friday shooting at about 10 p.m. at the shared studio on Westwind Drive.
The station said security-camera video shows a dark-colored car outside the building along Westwind Drive, and that muzzle flashes are visible as the shots are fired. BNO News, citing the stations, reported that the footage shows a dark-colored car parked outside for several minutes before the suspect opens fire from inside the vehicle. The New York Post reported surveillance video of a black vehicle that pulls up, lingers, and about two minutes into the video shows muzzle flashes from the driver's-side window before the car speeds off. Several minutes and about two minutes are different descriptions of how long the car waited. Dark-colored and black are close, and they are not the same word. The video the station published ran with the Friday-night report. The New York Post's description matches that video. This account does not have a separate video description for Tuesday morning.
The station said investigators reported that ten shots were fired into a conference room and an office, and that additional shots hit the building during the Tuesday morning shooting. The New York Post reported that police said the ten shots into a conference room and an office were Friday, and that additional gunfire hit the station early Tuesday. The station did not give a count for Tuesday. The Post said several shots early Tuesday and did not give a count either. No one has said how many rounds struck the building the second time.
Jessica Belluci of Sinclair, Inc. gave the station a statement about Friday only. "We are cooperating fully with the Bakersfield Police Department as it investigates a shooting incident at our KBAK/KBFX studios Friday evening," she said. "Thankfully, no one was injured. The safety and well-being of our employees is our top priority, and we are taking appropriate steps to ensure a safe and secure workplace. We appreciate the efforts of local law enforcement as the investigation continues." The statement does not mention Tuesday. BNO News reported that KBAK is the CBS affiliate and KBFX is the Fox affiliate, and that both operate from the Westwind Drive building. The New York Post reported that it is unclear whether the shootings are linked, that no station employees were hurt in either incident, and that the shooter or shooters remain at large. The station asked anyone with information to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111. No one has been charged. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Damon Foy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of Alberta Dale.
The plea is a conviction for second-degree murder. It is not the sentence. The Daily Freeman reported Foy is to receive 23 years to life, two years under the 25-years-to-life maximum, and that Chief Assistant District Attorney Liz Culmone-Mills said the office would not make that recommendation without Dale's family. Fox News reported the same expected term, citing the Daily Freeman. Sentencing is set before Judge Bryan E. Rounds on Dec. 16.

A judge sentenced Eduardo Vazquez to 35 years to life for the murder of Johnny Ramirez.
Thirty-five years to life is the sentence on a first-degree murder conviction. Nineteen years is the sentence on Diaz's voluntary-manslaughter plea, after jurors could not reach a verdict on the homicide count. A hung jury is not an acquittal, and a manslaughter plea is not a murder verdict. Patch reported prosecutors allege both men were gang members and that the killing was gang-motivated. That allegation is not a separate sentence in the Patch account.

ABC15 reported the bond is $1 million cash only. A refiled charge is not a new conviction.
