Life was the only sentence the first-degree count allowed in Florida after the verdict, and the judge imposed it. The State Attorney's Office account is that the surveillance video showed an argument with a friend that turned into a pistol-whipping, a gunshot that hit his father, and then more shots into the friend. That is the version the jury accepted. The appeal clock is the defense's next move, not a new trial.
Larry Baldwin Jr. was sentenced to life in prison for the 2025 killings of his father and a friend at a business complex in Jacksonville's Baymeadows area, News4JAX reported Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. A Duval County judge imposed the sentence Oct. 15, court records show, according to the station. The sentence says he is not eligible for early release or parole. News4JAX reported he was credited with 481 days already served in jail.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, a Duval County jury found Baldwin guilty of first-degree murder and second-degree murder in the deaths of Larry Baldwin Sr., 41, and Rubisnney Giraldo-Mina, 19, State Attorney Melissa Nelson's office announced. The office said at the time that with the verdict Baldwin faced a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison and that Circuit Judge L.E. Hutton would formally sentence him at a later date. Assistant State Attorneys LaTesha Campbell and Jalisa Curtis-King prosecuted the case, which the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated.
The State Attorney's Office said the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was alerted just before 3:30 a.m. on June 21, 2025, to a shooting at a Baymeadows Way business complex. When officers arrived, Baldwin was there and said he had shot his father, the office said. Both men had gunshot wounds and died at the scene. Witnesses told police Baldwin had been working on a disabled truck in the parking lot with the two men before they started arguing. News4JAX placed the complex near Baymeadows Road and Old Baymeadows Road and reported Baldwin was 18 at the time; the Florida Times-Union described him as 20 when the verdict came in.
Prosecutors said surveillance footage from a nearby business showed Baldwin and his friend in an argument that escalated, and that Baldwin struck his friend with the firearm. When he did so again, the State Attorney's Office said, the gun discharged and struck Baldwin's father. Baldwin then shot his friend multiple times, the office said. That is the account the jury heard and accepted. A life sentence after a verdict is the judgment on the convicted counts. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.
An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
