Greater Manchester Police charged Carl Hardy and Tony Evans with murder after Alisha Samuels was found dead in Newton Heath.

The Manchester Evening News reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that Carl Hardy, 19, and Tony Evans, 19, were charged with murder and attempted murder and remanded for Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Friday. Lawrence Johnson, 26, was charged Tuesday with the same two counts. Thursday's story does not report his Wednesday appearance. A 48-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender is not named.

Thursday's news line says Hardy and Evans have been charged. The Bryant quotation the Evening News prints in the same story still calls those detentions arrests on suspicion of murder. A charge and an arrest on suspicion are different steps, and the paper does not say which description is the later one. Johnson was already charged Tuesday. His Wednesday court date is not in Thursday's account.

Greater Manchester Police charged Lawrence Johnson, 26, of Dorking Avenue in Manchester, with murder and attempted murder, The Independent reported Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026. The charges relate to the death of Alisha Samuels and the attempted murder of a man on Dorking Avenue on Oct. 15, the paper reported, citing the force. The Manchester Evening News and the Liverpool Echo reported the same charges, the same ages and the same address. About Manchester also reported the charge. Johnson has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, Oct. 21, those outlets reported. Police have not named the man in the attempted-murder count.

The Evening News and the Echo reported that officers were called to a disturbance on Dorking Avenue in Newton Heath at about 2 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. Samuels, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering stab wounds, both reported. The Independent reported her death and the charges and did not describe the wounds in the account published Tuesday night. A death at the scene after a disturbance call is what those papers reported. It is not a finding about who used a knife.

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant said investigators are still working to establish the full circumstances of Samuels's death and to give her family answers. "We have now charged a man, but our investigation is not over," he said, according to The Independent. He thanked people who had already called police and asked anyone with information, including phone, CCTV or doorbell footage, to come forward. The Evening News and About Manchester reported the same statement. A detective's appeal after a charge is a request for more evidence. It is not a plea, and it is not a verdict.

The Manchester Evening News reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that two more people have been charged in Samuels's death. Carl Hardy, 19, of Shaldon Drive, Manchester, is charged with murder and attempted murder. Tony Evans, 19, of Dorking Avenue, is charged with murder and attempted murder. The paper reported both have been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Friday, Oct. 23. It reported that on Tuesday police said a 48-year-old woman had also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She is not named here. Thursday's story does not report what happened when Johnson was due before magistrates on Wednesday.

The quotation the Evening News published Thursday does not match its news line. Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant said, "With the support of our Force Critical Wanted Unit, we have now detained three further individuals believed to be involved in her death. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender." He said the team was still working to establish what happened on Oct. 15. The article above that quotation says Hardy and Evans have been charged. The quotation still says arrested on suspicion. Tuesday's quotation, reported by The Independent, was the one in which he said a man had been charged and the investigation was not over. An arrest on suspicion is not the same step as a charge, and the Thursday story does not say which wording came later.

Johnson and Samuels are both reported as 26, and the address on his charge is the address where she was found. None of the Tuesday accounts described a relationship between them or said what started the disturbance. The attempted-murder count means police say a second person was attacked and survived. They have not said how badly he was hurt, and they have not said whether Hardy or Evans is accused in that count, in Samuels's death, or in both. A charge is an accusation. It is not a conviction. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff's officials named Edward Villa as the suspect after Katie Kinder, her son and her mother were found shot to death in Happy Valley.

Thursday's briefing names the three people and names Villa as the only suspect. The warrant was three counts of first-degree murder. He was found dead before an arrest. KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. KGW reported Detective Matt Lysaght would not go past a gunshot deputies heard, a firearm in the room, and the fact that no officer fired. KPTV and OPB call the motel the South Jetty Inn. The Oregonian calls it the South Jetty Motel.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.

An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
