Trials
Lynch was found fit for trial.
As of Sept. 17, in Suffolk County, Austin Lynch was found fit to stand trial on a second-degree murder charge, and he has pleaded not guilty. The next date is Oct. 19, and that competency finding is not a murder verdict.

A fitness ruling answers one question: can this defendant understand the charges and help the lawyer. It does not answer whether the State can prove a killing. On Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony Senft Jr. found Austin Lynch, 18, competent to proceed on a second-degree murder count in the Nov. 26, 2025 death of Emily Finn, 18, in Nesconset. He had been found unfit in January and sent to a state hospital. Later evaluations conflicted. Senft ordered another look. Thursday’s order means the murder case can move. It is not a finding that he did it, and it is not a sentence.
Lynch has pleaded not guilty. If convicted of second-degree murder he faces 25 years to life. That exposure is the statute talking. It is not a verdict. He is also charged with a jail conspiracy count that carried its own fitness finding earlier this year. Two evaluations pointing different ways is why the court asked for a third. A later “fit” finding does not erase the first hospitalization. It just lets the docket proceed.
As of Sept. 17, 2026, the next public date is Oct. 19. Those are different legal questions. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Nathan Lee Lowe pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, and the court sentenced him to life without parole.
A guilty plea and a life term are the judgment on the counts he admitted. They are not a jury verdict, and the public accounts still do not name a weapon or a medical cause beyond trauma. WACB’s plea story says deputies found “obvious severe trauma.” WHKY, carrying that story, says “severe trauma.” The Taylorsville Times, citing Sheriff Chad Pennell the day after the 2024 arrest, said “apparent trauma” and listed Lowe’s age then as 39. The plea coverage lists him as 41.

A Marion County jury convicted Roderick Watson Jr., and the judge sentenced him to life.
A life term after a guilty verdict is the judgment on that count. It is not a second look at the self-defense claim the jury rejected. The State Attorney's Office says deputies found four gunshot wounds. Law & Crime, citing the arrest affidavit, says six. The office's release places the school "in Citrus." WFTV places it in Citra. The name on the office's release is Jaurez. Three other outlets spell it Juarez.

Judge Morgan sentenced Dylan Cody Lamb to life for killing Nadyne Marie Tillman.
Friday's order is the sentence on an August jury verdict. Keys News, citing the State Attorney's Office, reported life without parole plus two five-year terms that run together. Keys Weekly reported the verdict as second-degree murder, false imprisonment, and tampering with evidence. The Miami Herald's conviction story called one of those counts kidnapping. The judgment Keys News reported Friday used the false-imprisonment label.
