Oakland police arrested a Richmond woman after Mackayla Paige was fatally shot on 14th Street.
KTVU and the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Oakland police found a 29-year-old woman fatally shot on the 200 block of 14th Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026. The Chronicle reported she was from Richmond and that Now That's TV identified her as Mackayla Paige, known as Kash. Police arrested another woman from Richmond and, as of Monday, had not released that woman's name, a motive, or a charge.

An arrest after a fatal shooting is custody. It is not a complaint, and the Monday accounts still do not give the arrested woman's name or a motive. The Chronicle set Sunday's shooting beside last weekend's Warfield killing after a Zeus Network Baddies production and said circumstances and motives in both were still being investigated. That sentence does not make the two cases one case.
KTVU reported that Oakland police said officers responded to the 200 block of 14th Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, after reports of a shooting, and found a 29-year-old woman with an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital, where she died. The San Francisco Chronicle, in a story updated at 2:48 a.m. Monday, reported the same block and the same time, and reported that officers attempted lifesaving measures before she was taken to a local hospital and died. Yahoo reported calls around 1:30 a.m. on the 200 block of 14th Street near 14th and Harrison, and at least one gunshot wound. KTVU reported video posted to TikTok showed a large police presence outside Cave Lounge near 14th and Harrison. TMZ, in a story published at 8:18 a.m. Monday, reported that officers responded to calls of gunfire around 1:30 a.m., found a woman with a gunshot wound, and that she was pronounced dead at a hospital. TMZ did not give the block. A death after a shooting call is what those accounts reported. It is not a finding about who fired.
Who she was, and who was arrested, are told at different levels of certainty. KTVU reported that family members identified the woman who died as Mackayla Paige, 29, who appeared on "Real West Coast Baddies," "RoomH8z," and "Young & Reckless," and that police had not publicly identified the victim or the suspect. The Chronicle reported that police did not disclose the victim's name, and that the streaming network Now That's TV identified her as Mackayla Paige, known as Kash on "Real West Coast Baddies." Yahoo reported that Paige, 29, of Richmond, appeared on Now That's TV shows including Young & Reckless, RoomH8z, and Real West Coast Baddies, and that family members identified her, an identification Yahoo said KTVU confirmed. TMZ reported that Kash's real name was Mackayla Paige, that she was 29, and that she appeared on those three shows. KTVU and TMZ reported that she had posted Instagram Stories on Saturday night, hours before the shooting. Those posts are what the outlets said she shared. They are not an account of the shooting.
The arrest is the split in wording. KTVU reported that police confirmed an adult woman from Richmond was arrested in connection with the shooting, and that they had not released her identity or what led to the shooting. In the version updated at 6:33 a.m. Monday, KTVU still reported that police had not publicly identified the suspect or the victim and had not detailed the circumstances. The Chronicle reported that another Richmond woman, whom police did not identify, was arrested in connection with the shooting, and that police did not provide a possible motive. Yahoo reported that a woman from Richmond was arrested, and that as of Monday morning her name, the charges she faces, and how the shooting took place had not been revealed. Yahoo called the arrest "in connection with the murder." KTVU, the Chronicle, and TMZ said in connection with the shooting. TMZ reported that police had not released her identity or what sparked the confrontation. No outlet in this set printed her name. An arrest without a released charge is custody. It is not a filed count.
The Chronicle is the outlet that put a second shooting in the same story, and it did not tie the two by a suspect. It reported that last weekend a security guard at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco was fatally shot after a stage production of "Baddies USA Chapter 3," a Zeus Network series, and that a suspect was arrested days later. It reported that circumstances and possible motives behind both shootings were still being investigated. "Real West Coast Baddies," the Now That's TV series the outlets attach to Paige, is not the title the Chronicle used for the Warfield production. Crime Talk Network reported last week on the Warfield shooting that killed security guard Ulysses Tykee Davis and on the arrest of Shakia Vanderbilt. The Chronicle did not say Sunday's arrest in Oakland is that case. KTVU, Yahoo, and TMZ did not mention the Warfield in the stories used here. The woman arrested in Oakland has not been named. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Jury selection began Monday in Russell Brand's rape and sexual-assault trial at Southwark Crown Court.
Jury selection is the start of the trial. It is not a verdict. The BBC and the Press Association agree that six women are involved, that he denies the charges, and that the judge told jurors the case should take about six weeks. The BBC says the pool was cut to 20 and that jurors might be needed until Dec. 11. The Press Association says six panel members who remembered 2023 coverage were dismissed, and it does not give Dec. 11. The BBC calls his wife Laura. The Press Association calls her Laura Gallacher.

Page Six says unsealed records from the Lively-Baldoni fight include Ryan Reynolds texts calling Baldoni a "predator and sociopath."
A text message in a court file is proof that someone wrote something. It is not a finding that what he wrote is true. Reynolds was angry in August 2024, and the records Page Six obtained show it. Baldoni has denied Lively's allegations from the start, and no jury ever ruled on them. Page Six reported the case settled in May. What is left now is the paper trail.

LAPD homicide detectives searched Joshua Tree on Friday for evidence in Christina Downer's disappearance.
A search by homicide detectives is a step in an investigation. It is not an arrest, and it is not a finding that anyone killed Christina Downer. Fox News reported the LAPD would not say what evidence detectives hoped to find in Joshua Tree, or whether they were looking for remains or a suspect. NBC Los Angeles reported that dogs were part of the search. Fox News reported a department spokesperson could not confirm the dogs. No one has been named or charged.
