Thursday's arrest is the first detention 25News Now has reported in the Oct. 5 shooting. A preliminary first-degree murder charge is the count Peoria detectives filed after the Milwaukee interview. Causey was injured in the daytime shooting, her vehicle hit a South Peoria storefront, and she died that night. The charge is the accusation in the file. A court has not tried it.

25News Now reported that Peoria police, working with the U.S. Marshals, found Maurice Graves, 30, on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, inside a home in the 7800 block of West Oklahoma in Milwaukee. The station, citing the Peoria Police Department, said officers took him into custody without incident and took him to the Milwaukee Police Department so Peoria detectives could interview him. He was then arrested on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder, 25News Now reported. An arrest on a preliminary charge is the start of the case against him.

The count is tied to a daytime shooting on Oct. 5 in South Peoria, 25News Now reported. Dionna Causey was injured. Her vehicle crashed into the side of Da Catch, a business attached to City Market at Western and Howett. She died that night. That is the account Peoria police gave the station of the shooting and the death. It is the basis for the preliminary count. It is the police account of the scene, ahead of any trial.

Graves is in custody on that preliminary first-degree murder charge after the Milwaukee arrest. 25News Now did not report a bond figure or a next court date. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Broward cold-case detectives charged Brittany Hanfield and Sheila Arstil with murder in the 2007 killing of Leon Heron.

Thursday's announcement is the public account of two first-degree murder charges in a killing that sat unsolved for nearly 19 years. Detective David Towsley says the evidence includes DNA and confessions. That is his description of the file. A grand jury indictment of Arstil on Oct. 7, and Hanfield's arrest on Nov. 10, 2025, are charging steps. They are not a trial.

U.S. Marshals arrested Robert Reynolds in the 2023 Northeast Philadelphia hit-and-run that killed Billy McWilliams.

Thursday's arrest is the first detention the Marshals, FOX 29, and 6abc have reported in a crash that killed a 16-year-old more than three years ago. Police recovered a vehicle days after the crash and did not make an arrest then. The four counts are the charges on the Marshals release. A court has not tried them.

Jackson County prosecutors charged Douglas MacDonald with murder in the shooting death of Orian Heckman.

Thursday's charging papers are the accusation. They are not a conviction. KSHB reported MacDonald told police he shot a woman who was trying to break into the house. The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, as KSHB relayed it, said witnesses described Heckman being shot as she announced she was leaving. Those are competing accounts in the charging record. A jury has not sorted them.
