Gibbs was arrested in Dallas on federal firearm false-statement and illegal-transfer charges tied to the 2024 Charlotte ambush.
On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, ATF agents and U.S. Marshals arrested Natasha Renee Gibbs, 42, in Dallas. She is charged with false statements during firearm purchases and illegally transferring a firearm prosecutors tie to Terry Clark Hughes Jr., the convicted felon authorities say killed four officers in Charlotte on April 29, 2024.

A federal arrest and an indictment are accusations. They are not a conviction. On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, ATF and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested her in Dallas on false-statement counts in firearm purchases and an illegal-transfer count. The government says the case is connected to the April 29, 2024, Charlotte ambush. That connection is the charging theory. It is not a verdict against Gibbs. The officers' deaths are not a finding that she is guilty.
ATF said Gibbs, 42, was arrested for allegedly buying a firearm for convicted felon Terry Clark Hughes Jr., and that Hughes used that firearm when he opened fire on a U.S. Marshals task force serving a warrant in Charlotte. The officers killed were Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Joshua Eyer, Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas M. Weeks Jr., and North Carolina Department of Adult Correction officers Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott. Hughes was killed in the exchange of gunfire. ATF said the counts carry up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both. Those maximums apply only if she is convicted.
WSOC reported a three-count indictment: two counts of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm and one count of illegal transfer of a firearm, naming a Taurus 9mm pistol and a Radical Firearms RF-15 5.56-caliber rifle. NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reported the indictment alleges Gibbs bought a Taurus G2C 9mm from a licensed dealer in Charlotte in October 2021, bought the RF-15 from the same dealer in October 2023, and each time falsely claimed she was the actual buyer. NBC 5 reported the illegal-transfer count alleges she gave the rifle to Hughes between Oct. 9, 2023, and April 29, 2024, knowing or having reason to believe his possession would be a felony. Those are indictment allegations. They are not findings.
WSOC reported Gibbs was set for a first appearance Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Plano, Texas, before Judge Don D. Bush, and later reported she appeared in federal court in Texas and that a judge ordered the Marshals to take her to the Western District of North Carolina. WFAE reported the same arrest and the same exposure of up to 10 years and a $250,000 fine. A first appearance and a transfer order move the case. They do not decide it. Gibbs is presumed innocent.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
