WPXI, by Jess Shannon, published November 3, 2026, at 1:04 p.m. EST, reported a 42-year-old Braddock man was charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Murrysville. It reported Nelson Hill was charged with criminal homicide and possession of a prohibited firearm after an investigation by Murrysville Police, the Westmoreland County Detective Bureau, and the District Attorney's Office. It reported officers originally responded on Oct. 25 to Sardis Road near Cole Road, found Adam Carter inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head, and that he was transported to a local hospital, where he died three days later. It reported that around the same time police received reports of shots fired near Evergreen Drive and of a man knocking on doors asking for a ride near Roundtop Road, and that officers located Hill standing near Pleasant Valley Road and Roundtop Road, where he attempted to run before police arrested him. It reported Hill, Carter, and two other men spent the evening of Oct. 25 visiting several bars in the Braddock area before traveling to a club in Jeannette for a short time, and that as the four were driving through Murrysville an argument broke out. It reported police said Hill became irate and pulled a gun on the other three occupants, that detectives reported he pointed the gun at everyone inside the car before firing a single shot that struck Carter in the head, and that he then jumped out, ran into a wooded area, and reportedly fired four to five more rounds. It reported Murrysville Police and a K-9 officer located a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine in the wooded area near where he exited, and a baseball hat consistent with the one he wore that evening. It reported detectives reviewed surveillance video from the Jeannette club that showed him pointing a pistol at another patron after an argument earlier that night. It reported that beyond the homicide and illegal gun possession counts he faces drug possession, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and public drunkenness. The page does not print a bail amount, a prison name, or Nov. 24.
CBS Pittsburgh, by Christopher DeRose, published November 3, 2026, at 6:20 p.m. EST, reported homicide charges have been filed against 42-year-old Nelson Hill for the late October shooting of Adam Carter. It does not print Braddock as his city. It reported the shooting was just before midnight on Sunday, Oct. 25, that Murrysville police were dispatched to the 4800 block of Sardis Road for shots fired, and that they found Carter with a gunshot wound to the head. The 4800 block, on that page, and Sardis Road near Cole Road, on WPXI, are not the same place line. Just before midnight, on CBS Pittsburgh, is a clock WPXI does not print. It reported Carter and three other people, including Hill, had visited several bars in the Braddock area and then Jeannette. Then Jeannette, on that page, and a club in Jeannette, on WPXI, are not the same stop. It reported an argument broke out and Hill allegedly pointed a gun at all of the occupants before firing one round that struck Carter in the head, and that he then fled into the woods, firing off more shots, before he was later picked up trying to bum a ride and evade police. Firing off more shots, on CBS Pittsburgh, and four to five more rounds, on WPXI, are not the same count. It reported Carter died of his wounds three days later at the hospital. It quoted Murrysville Police Chief Tom Kusinsky that Hill is facing a felony homicide charge, a felony for possession of a prohibited firearm, and misdemeanor charges for drug possession, evading arrest, and public drunkenness. A felony homicide charge, in that quotation, and criminal homicide, on WPXI, are not the same words. Evading arrest, in the chief's list, and evading arrest plus resisting arrest, on WPXI, are not the same list. It quoted him: "We are really confident in this investigation. My detectives, with assistance from the District Attorney's Detective Bureau, have put many, many of hours into this case, and we're very confident that we gathered the information and we did what was right and we are going to serve justice for the victim in this situation." Many, many of hours is the sentence on the page. It reported Hill is being held at the Westmoreland County Prison without bail and is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 24. CBS Pittsburgh does not print the pistol, the hat, Evergreen Drive, or the attempt to run.
