Quamain Emery Brown pleaded not guilty in the McNeely Lake Park killing of Bilal Mbeirick, and a judge set bond at $250,000.

WDRB and WAVE reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that Brown, 19, of Crestwood, was arraigned on complicity to murder, complicity to first-degree robbery and complicity to tampering with physical evidence. Judge Lisa Langford set a $250,000 cash bond. WLKY's Oct. 13 story still had him in the Floyd County Jail and reported a different defendant's plea.

Thursday's not-guilty plea is Brown's. WLKY's Oct. 13 not-guilty plea was Chris Payne's, and that bond was $500,000. WAVE's Wednesday story already listed Brown's cash bond at $250,000 before the arraignment. A 17-year-old charged in the same killing is not named here.

WDRB and WAVE reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that Quamain Emery Brown, 19, of Crestwood, was arraigned in Louisville on complicity to murder, complicity to first-degree robbery and complicity to tampering with physical evidence in the killing of Bilal Mbeirick. The stations reported he pleaded not guilty, that Judge Lisa Langford set bond at $250,000 cash, and that he is due back in court in December. They reported a complaint says detectives interviewed him and that he admitted involvement in the murder, taking property belonging to Mbeirick, and trying to conceal evidence. That admission is what the complaint says. A complaint is not a conviction, and the plea entered Thursday was not guilty. The stations reported Mbeirick was 32 and that his body was found Aug. 1.

The day before that arraignment, the same stations reported Brown had been arrested Thursday in Floyd County, Indiana, was being held at the Floyd County Jail, and was due in district court at 9 a.m. Oct. 22, with cash bond already set at $250,000. Oct. 8 was a Thursday. WLKY reported Oct. 12 that Louisville Metro Police said Brown was arrested Oct. 8 in southern Indiana and was being held at the Floyd County Jail. WLKY reported Oct. 13 that Chris Payne pleaded not guilty that Tuesday morning and that a judge set Payne's bond at $500,000, and that Brown was still in the Floyd County Jail. WAVE's Wednesday story identified Payne as Chris Payne, also known as Christopher Thomas. Thursday's story says Chris Payne, 19, was arrested on the same charges as Brown. WLKY's Oct. 13 story did not give Payne an alias and did not name the judge on his bond.

WLKY reported Oct. 12 that Louisville Metro Police were called to McNeely Lake Park around 12:27 p.m. Aug. 1 for human remains, that the man was identified as Bilal Mbeirick, 32, and that the coroner reported he died from a gunshot wound. WAVE's Wednesday story reported he was found shot to death just before 12:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of Mt. Washington Road, at the park off Cooper Chapel Road. Both put the death on Aug. 1. The minute and the address line are WLKY's 12:27 p.m. and WAVE's just-before-12:30 in that block. WLKY and WAVE reported a 17-year-old was arrested in September and is also charged. WLKY's Oct. 12 story listed his charges as murder, robbery, tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property and possession of a handgun by a minor. WAVE's Thursday story listed murder, first-degree robbery, possession of a handgun by a minor, tampering with physical evidence and receiving a stolen firearm. He is not named here. Thursday's not-guilty plea and the $250,000 cash bond are the orders from Brown's arraignment. They are not a trial. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff's officials named Edward Villa as the suspect after Katie Kinder, her son and her mother were found shot to death in Happy Valley.

Thursday's briefing names the three people and names Villa as the only suspect. The warrant was three counts of first-degree murder. He was found dead before an arrest. KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. KGW reported Detective Matt Lysaght would not go past a gunshot deputies heard, a firearm in the room, and the fact that no officer fired. KPTV and OPB call the motel the South Jetty Inn. The Oregonian calls it the South Jetty Motel.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.

An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
