Thursday's verdict is the jury's finding on the murder charge. It is not the sentence. The Bangor Daily News reports Brown faces 25 years to life, and, citing WABI, that he will be sentenced at a later date. Until a judge imposes a term, the guilty verdict is the judgment on the charge and not a prison sentence.

The Bangor Daily News reports a jury finds Raymond Brown, 67, of Bangor, guilty of murder on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026. The paper, citing WABI, reports the jury returns that verdict in about an hour. The Bangor Daily News reports the trial began Monday, Oct. 5. WABI has covered the proceedings in Machias. Those are the accounts of the verdict. They are what the jury does with the charge.

The Bangor Daily News reports the case is the Aug. 25, 1984 death of an 18-year-old woman from Calais. Her body was found near a boat landing on the St. Croix River in Robbinston. The paper reports her death was originally classified as a drowning, and that police exhumed her body in 2024 for a limited autopsy. Brown was arrested on a murder charge in May 2025 during a traffic stop in Bangor, the Bangor Daily News reports. WABI reported then that a Washington County grand jury had indicted him and that he pleaded not guilty. A plea is not the verdict. Thursday is the verdict.

The Bangor Daily News reports prosecutors said Brown confessed to a cellmate earlier this year that he suffocated her in a bog. The paper reports prosecutors described a motive. It also reports he was among a group of people drinking with her the night she died, that he offered her a ride home, and that he later claimed he dropped her at a variety store. Those are the prosecution's account of what he said and where he said he left her. They are the case the jury heard. The guilty verdict is what the jury returns.

The Bangor Daily News reports Brown faces 25 years to life in prison. The paper, citing WABI, reports he will be sentenced at a later date. A guilty verdict is not the order that sets the years. No sentence has been imposed, and he may appeal. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and on Thursday the jury finds the state has met that burden on the murder charge.

Nathan Lee Lowe pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, and the court sentenced him to life without parole.

A guilty plea and a life term are the judgment on the counts he admitted. They are not a jury verdict, and the public accounts still do not name a weapon or a medical cause beyond trauma. WACB’s plea story says deputies found “obvious severe trauma.” WHKY, carrying that story, says “severe trauma.” The Taylorsville Times, citing Sheriff Chad Pennell the day after the 2024 arrest, said “apparent trauma” and listed Lowe’s age then as 39. The plea coverage lists him as 41.

A Marion County jury convicted Roderick Watson Jr., and the judge sentenced him to life.

A life term after a guilty verdict is the judgment on that count. It is not a second look at the self-defense claim the jury rejected. The State Attorney's Office says deputies found four gunshot wounds. Law & Crime, citing the arrest affidavit, says six. The office's release places the school "in Citrus." WFTV places it in Citra. The name on the office's release is Jaurez. Three other outlets spell it Juarez.

Judge Morgan sentenced Dylan Cody Lamb to life for killing Nadyne Marie Tillman.

Friday's order is the sentence on an August jury verdict. Keys News, citing the State Attorney's Office, reported life without parole plus two five-year terms that run together. Keys Weekly reported the verdict as second-degree murder, false imprisonment, and tampering with evidence. The Miami Herald's conviction story called one of those counts kidnapping. The judgment Keys News reported Friday used the false-imprisonment label.
