A Miami judge told Rick Ross she had no idea who he was at his bond hearing.

A bond hearing decides release conditions. It does not decide guilt. TMZ and Page Six reported that after Rick Ross turned himself in Thursday on battery-by-strangulation and battery charges tied to an alleged August domestic-violence incident, his lawyer asked to expedite release because of fame and jail-safety concerns. Judge Mindy Glazer responded that she had no idea who he was and that he would be treated like everybody else. Ross pleaded not guilty.

Ross was booked Thursday morning in Miami-Dade County on felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery, with domestic-violence notations in jail records, TMZ and Page Six reported. Coverage said the allegations stem from an Aug. 28 incident reported to Miami Beach police on Sept. 29, and that Ross turned himself in. An arrest and a booking are accusations. They are not a conviction.

At the Zoom bond hearing, Judge Glazer found probable cause after reviewing the arrest report, CBS Miami reporting said. Defense attorney Bradley Horenstein asked whether release could be expedited because of Ross’s celebrity and concerns for his safety in jail, TMZ reported. Glazer said she had no idea who he was and that he would be treated fairly like everybody else. Bench comments and a probable-cause finding are process. They are not a trial verdict.

Bond was set in the thousands of dollars on the two counts, with a stay-away order and firearm restrictions reported in coverage. Ross’s camp said he is not guilty and is being wrongfully accused, according to TMZ. Arraignment was reported for Oct. 22. A not-guilty position and an arraignment date are process. Ross remains presumed innocent.
