A Jackson County grand jury indicted Ryan Parsons for first-degree murder in his uncle's death.

On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, a Jackson County, Tennessee, grand jury indicted Ryan Parsons, 40, of Granville for first-degree murder, theft of property, and burglary in the July 7 death of his uncle, Terrance Barbour, 71, in Gainesboro. He is held without bond. The indictment is an accusation.

A grand-jury indictment is an accusation. It is not a conviction. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that at the request of 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson, agents began investigating after Terrance Barbour, 71, was found dead July 7, 2026, at a residence in the 400 block of Mansell Hill Road in Gainesboro. Investigators presented evidence that Barbour's nephew, Ryan Parsons, 40, of Granville, was responsible. On Monday, Sept. 28, the Jackson County grand jury returned counts of first-degree murder, theft of property, and burglary. Parsons was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail without bond.

WSMV, WKRN, and the Herald-Citizen reported the same TBI charging summary. No additional public details about how Barbour died have been released in that coverage. An indictment alleging first-degree murder, theft, and burglary is still a set of accusations for a jury or a plea to resolve later.

The TBI's public statement, as quoted by the Herald-Citizen, said the charges and allegations are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. That presumption is the legal baseline. It is not a finding that the State will fail to prove the case.

As of Oct. 1, 2026 reporting, Parsons remains in the Jackson County Jail without bond. A no-bond hold is custody status. It is not a sentence, and it is not a verdict.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
