A Las Vegas judge sentenced Shiloh Leutu to 3 to 8 years in a food-bank beating death.
News 3 Las Vegas reported that on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2026, a judge sentenced Shiloh Leutu, 38, to three to eight years in the Nevada Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty in August to voluntary manslaughter in the July 9 death of Scott Dennis, 60, outside City Impact Urban Food Bank. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported District Judge Jacqueline Bluth handed down the sentence and that the coroner listed heart disease with a physical altercation as a contributing factor.

A voluntary-manslaughter plea and a three-to-eight-year term are the conviction and the sentence on that count. They are not a murder verdict. News 3 reported Leutu received credit for 84 days served. The Review-Journal reported a warrant remains for a second man, Justin Ott. Leutu's sentence does not resolve Ott's case.
News 3 Las Vegas reported that Shiloh Leutu pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in August and that on Tuesday a judge sentenced him to three to eight years in the Nevada Department of Corrections, with credit for 84 days already served. The Las Vegas Review-Journal, writing from court records and dating the piece Oct. 9 with an Oct. 10 update, identified him as 38, said District Judge Jacqueline Bluth handed down the sentence, and said Dennis, 60, died after a beating outside City Impact Urban Food Bank at 928 E. Sahara Ave. on July 9. The Review-Journal reported Dennis later died at Sunrise Hospital and that his girlfriend called 911 just before 6:20 a.m. A plea is the conviction. Tuesday's hearing imposed the range.
The Review-Journal reported the Clark County coroner's database listed the cause as heart disease with a "physical altercation" as a contributing factor, and that Leutu's arrest report said the assault might have caused Dennis to have a heart attack. News 3, citing the arrest report, said Dennis and his girlfriend were standing in line when a man approached her and yelled after she said she had no cigarettes, that an argument followed, that one suspect threw something at Dennis and swung at him, and that a second suspect then punched Dennis in the head and abdomen before both men walked away. The Review-Journal's account of surveillance described an unidentified man insulting the girlfriend, Dennis intervening, food thrown, a fight pulled into the parking lot, and repeated punches to the head and abdomen while the man held Dennis's right arm. Those are the arrest-report and surveillance descriptions the outlets published. They are the factual basis for the plea, not a new trial record.
News 3 reported only Leutu was arrested and charged, and that court documents say a warrant has been issued for Justin Ott since July 21. The Review-Journal's sentencing story focused on Leutu and letters of support his public defender submitted from his sister and a friend before sentencing. A warrant for a second suspect is an open process item. It is not Leutu's sentence.
Three to eight years is the judgment Judge Bluth imposed on the voluntary-manslaughter plea. It is not a finding on a murder count. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

St. Petersburg police arrested Jaida Thomas-McFatten on a warrant in a deadly scooter hit-and-run.
An arrest on a leaving-the-scene warrant is an accusation. It is not a conviction for causing the death. Police described the man crossing outside the crosswalk and against the walk signal into the westbound curb lane. That is the department's account of how the collision happened. The charge filed is leaving the scene of a crash involving death. Causation and fault remain for a court, not a press release.

Washburn County charged Colton Christopherson with first-degree intentional homicide in his father's death.
A charge and a quoted admission in a complaint are the start of a case. They are not a conviction. Allan Christopherson coached Wayzata boys golf to four state titles. His son faces the most serious intentional-homicide count Wisconsin files. Bail at $5 million and a competency order mean the court is still deciding whether he can stand trial, not what a jury has found.
