State police arrested Shirley Morales on a warrant, and no outlet released a charge.

News 8, News10NBC, and 13WHAM reported an arrest of Shirley Morales, whom each identified as the mother of Precious Arzuaga. News 8 said it was on a warrant and that the charges could not be released, News10NBC said the charges are under a sealed indictment, and 13WHAM said it was unclear why she was arrested.

A warrant with no charges released, a sealed indictment with no further information, and an arrest whose reason is unclear are three descriptions. None of them prints a charge. News 8 reported it remains unclear whether the arrest has any connection to the killing of Sam Nordquist, and an arrest of Arzuaga's mother is not a finding that this warrant is part of that case.

Yahoo News published a News 8 story by Gio Battaglia timestamped Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 2:24 p.m. EDT. That clock is 2026-10-31T18:24:43.000Z. The RochesterFirst page of the same story did not load. The sentences in this paragraph are the ones on the Yahoo page. It reported that the mother of Precious Arzuaga, who was sentenced to life in prison for her role in the torture and murder of Sam Nordquist, has been arrested, according to New York State Police. It reported Shirley Morales was arrested on a warrant, according to troopers, who confirmed the arrest to News 8 but said details surrounding the charges could not be released. It reported the arrest record lists the description "police officer execute warrant of arrest," and the story says that line refers to the execution of an arrest warrant rather than a specific criminal charge. It reported Ontario County District Attorney Jason MacBride confirmed to News 8 that Morales is Arzuaga's mother and declined to provide additional details about the arrest. It reported it remains unclear what charges Morales may be facing or whether her arrest has any connection to the Nordquist case. The page does not print her age. It does not print the day the arrest happened.

News10NBC, by Hunter Wright, reported Morales, the mother of convicted killer Precious Arzuaga, was arrested by police on Friday, according to state police. It reported troopers said her charges are under a sealed indictment, and that police said no additional information about the charges will be released at this time. A sealed indictment is not the phrase News 8 printed. News 8 printed a warrant and an arrest-record line that its own story says is not a specific charge. Friday is a day the Saturday News 8 story does not print. The News10NBC photograph is captioned Shirley Morales and credited to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office. The arrest in that story, and in the News 8 story, is attributed to state police. A sheriff's office credit on a photograph is not a statement that the sheriff's office made the arrest. News10NBC reported Arzuaga was sentenced to life in prison in September on a first-degree murder charge. It also printed other terms. This account does not.

13WHAM reported, in a story timestamped Friday, October 30, 2026, at 5:32 p.m. and updated Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:40 a.m., that MacBride said Shirley Morales, 56, mother of Precious Arzuaga, was arrested Friday by New York State Police, and that it was unclear why she was arrested. Fifty-six is an age News 8 and News10NBC did not print. Unclear why is not a warrant, and it is not a sealed indictment. 13WHAM's dateline is Canandaigua. News 8's dateline is Rochester. News10NBC's dateline is Ontario County. 13WHAM reported Arzuaga pleaded guilty June 26 to first-degree murder and other charges and was sentenced Sept. 8 to life in prison without parole. News 8 reported a June plea and a September sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, and it named kidnapping and conspiracy among the charges. June 26 and Sept. 8 are dates News 8 did not print. Without parole, and without the possibility of parole, are not the same phrase. 13WHAM reported six other defendants were also charged with murder, that four have pleaded guilty, and that the other three are expected to stand trial, with the first trial scheduled for January. Four plus three is seven, not six. News 8 reported Arzuaga was one of seven people charged in connection with Nordquist's death. Six others, and one of seven, can describe the same group only if she is the seventh. Four who pleaded and three still to be tried is a different split of that page's own sentence, and 13WHAM does not say Morales is one of those defendants.

News10NBC reported that Linda Nordquist said the Ontario County district attorney called her about the arrest and did not share specific details, and that she does not know whether the arrest is connected to her son's case. News 8 reported the connection is unclear. 13WHAM reported the reason for the arrest is unclear. None of the three printed a charge against Morales. Her relationship to Arzuaga is what MacBride confirmed to News 8, and what 13WHAM and News10NBC also reported. That relationship is not a charge, and it is not a finding that Friday's arrest is part of the Nordquist case. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Trials

The Middle District of Georgia release says Judge Self sentenced Josue Serda to life in prison. FOX 5 Atlanta and WSB-TV say life without parole.

Life in prison, and life without parole, and there is no parole in the federal system, are not the same sentence. More than 50 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 50 kilograms, are not the same quantity. Three investigations, and one ring that seized more than 200 kilograms, are not the same case. A charge against Raul Perez-Mondragon is an allegation.

Roland Chatmon and three others pleaded guilty in the kidnapping of his uncle, Curtis Dixon.

A guilty plea is the conviction on the counts a defendant admits. It is not the prison term. FOX 2 and the New York Post say the four kidnapping defendants face a mandatory minimum of seven years and a maximum of life, with hearings in 2027. WXYZ reported that all five, including Kenneth Anderson, face that range. FOX 2, CBS Detroit, and the Post say Anderson was already sentenced to probation.

Trials

An Ottawa jury found Fsha Tekhle guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing of Brkti Berhe.

A first-degree murder verdict is the jury's finding on that count. CBC wrote that the conviction comes with automatic life sentences, plural, and no eligibility for parole for 25 years. The Ottawa Citizen described an automatic sentence of life without parole for 25 years. No eligibility for parole for 25 years, and life without parole for 25 years, are not the same words. Tekhle admitted causing the death and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
