Zhang and Chen were charged with murder and a lying-in-wait special circumstance.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, of Dublin, California, were charged with murder and a lying-in-wait special circumstance in the Saturday shooting death of Jonathan McKinsey, 40, at Dublin Sports Grounds, the New York Post reported.

A murder charge and a special-circumstance allegation are accusations. They are not a conviction, and they are not the same as a weekend booking on suspicion. On Wednesday, prosecutors and charging documents alleged Zhang and Chen lied in wait before the killing of Jonathan McKinsey at Dublin Sports Grounds. A formal charge replaces an open investigation with a filed theory.

McKinsey, head of engineering for games player experience at The New York Times, was found with gunshot wounds Saturday, Sept. 26, in the parking lot of Dublin Sports Grounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses described two masked assailants who took turns shooting. Zhang and Chen were detained nearby and booked into Santa Rita Jail. Those facts were reported with the weekend arrest. They are not a finding of guilt on Wednesday’s charging papers.

The New York Post, citing charging documents, reported that Zhang and Chen were charged with murder early Wednesday and that prosecutors added a lying-in-wait special circumstance — an allegation that they timed the attack. Other firearm and great-bodily-injury special allegations were also reported. The Post said Zhang later admitted killing McKinsey in an interview, while Chen invoked Miranda rights. An alleged post-arrest statement in a charging narrative is still evidence the state must prove. It is not a guilty plea in open court.

NBC Bay Area reported the pair were due for arraignment Wednesday in Dublin on first-degree murder charges. Relationship context from divorce and custody filings is background reporting. It is not a motive finding by a jury. Zhang and Chen are presumed innocent.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
