A murder-domestic violence charge is the count on the booking. It is not a finding that the shooting was domestic, and it is not a conviction. 14 News reported the arraignment is Oct. 12. What a citation says a witness heard, and what troopers say they found under a pool deck, are accusations the prosecutor still has to put on in court. Oct. 12 is the first date. It is not a plea.

WNKY reported Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, that Kentucky State Police say Skylar Shanks, 33, is charged with murder-domestic violence in the death of Amber DeArmond, 39. Troopers were called Sunday to a home on Wild Horse Lane near Bremen and found DeArmond with a gunshot wound, WNKY reported. Investigators also found a shell casing in the home, that station reported. 14 News reported it obtained the citation, which says that on Sunday evening a woman was found under a blanket with a gunshot wound inside a home on Wild Horse Lane, between Bremen and Central City, and that the coroner identified her as DeArmond. A citation's account of a gunshot wound is the charging paper. It is not a cause-of-death finding a jury has heard.

WNKY reported that a witness told police she heard a gunshot before Shanks came into a bedroom and said they needed to leave. 14 News reported the citation says the witness had been at the home with Shanks, heard a gunshot, and that he then ran out of the room and said, "we have to get out of here." The witness is not named in those stories. 14 News reported troopers were told a man who appeared to have blood on him was seen near a shed at a home on KY-70. Those are statements the citation attributes to other people. They are not testimony, and they are not a confession in court.

WNKY reported investigators later found Shanks hiding under a pool deck at a nearby home and that he ran from troopers before he was taken into custody. 14 News reported troopers found him under the pool deck, that he ran, that he was tased, and that he would not answer questions. 14 News reported a search warrant for the shed turned up bloody clothes and methamphetamine. WNKY reported the other counts include fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, trafficking in methamphetamine, drug possession, and tampering with physical evidence. 14 News reported the additional charges include fleeing police, resisting arrest, and dealing meth. A taser deployment and a list of counts are the arrest. They do not decide who fired.

WNKY and 14 News both reported that the arraignment is set for Oct. 12. 14 News reported he is in the Muhlenberg County Jail and that Kentucky State Police are investigating. No plea has been entered in the accounts used here. A jail booking on a murder count starts the case. It does not end it. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
