A Solano County juvenile judge kept a 17-year-old in custody without bail and set the next Fairfield hearing for Nov. 13.
KCRA, by Leticia Ordaz, updated at 10:43 a.m. PST on Nov. 4, 2026, reported the arraignment was postponed to Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. and that a request for a home placement was denied. Prosecutors said Constance Hages was 13 weeks pregnant. The 17-year-old is not named here. No transfer to adult court was ordered.

Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. is the next date KCRA printed. It is not an arraignment completed on Wednesday, and it is not an order trying him as an adult. Thirteen weeks, which KCRA said prosecutors revealed Wednesday, is not the same pregnancy account as the earlier pages that said her family told police she was pregnant and that a coroner examination was still pending. Without bail in juvenile hall is the detention order KCRA reported.
KCRA, by Leticia Ordaz, updated at 10:43 a.m. PST on November 4, 2026, reported a 17-year-old accused in the Fairfield Spirit Halloween shooting appeared briefly in Solano County Juvenile Court on Wednesday and that his arraignment was postponed until Nov. 13 to give his public defender time to review police reports and video evidence. It reported the next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. Postponed until Nov. 13, and Nov. 13 at 9 a.m., are both on that page. It reported prosecutors say investigators have gathered more than 90 witness statements. It reported the Solano County District Attorney described the Oct. 30 shooting as a terrorist attack and said more than 100 people, including families with children, were inside the store. It reported he is charged with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and three counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon, plus multiple firearm enhancements and a special-circumstance allegation involving multiple murders. Semiautomatic, as one word, is this Wednesday page. Semi-automatic, with a hyphen, is KCRA's Tuesday account already below. It reported that during Wednesday's proceedings prosecutors revealed Constance Hages was 13 weeks pregnant, and that the district attorney's office said the pregnancy had progressed beyond the embryonic stage, allowing prosecutors to pursue a second murder charge in connection with the death of her unborn child. Two counts of murder were already the Tuesday filing in the paragraphs below. A Wednesday explanation of the second count is not a new charge list. It reported an alternate public defender requested release to a home placement, that the judge denied that request, and that he was ordered to remain in juvenile hall without bail. It reported Chief Deputy District Attorney Bruce Flynn said a decision on the petition to transfer the case to adult court could take several weeks, and that the decision was not made Wednesday. It reported that as of Wednesday a 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man remained hospitalized, and that a 19-year-old man and a 43-year-old man had been released. The 16-year-old is not named. He is not named. The judge is not named. Wednesday's detention order is not a transfer to adult court.
CBS Sacramento, by Richard Ramos, updated November 3, 2026, at 4:41 p.m. PST, reported a 17-year-old arrested in the Fairfield Spirit Halloween shooting has been charged with two counts of murder, and that prosecutors are asking a judge to allow him to be tried as an adult. It reported the Solano County District Attorney's Office announced two counts of murder with a multiple-murder special circumstance, three counts of attempted murder, and multiple weapons-related charges and enhancements, and that he faces an allegation of a prior conviction for a violent offense that qualifies as a strike under California law. It reported the office filed a petition asking the juvenile court to transfer the case to adult court, that the request is still pending, and that he is scheduled to be arraigned in juvenile court on Wednesday. It did not print 9 a.m. It reported that under current California law prosecutors cannot directly file charges against a minor in adult court, and that the case begins in juvenile court, where a judge decides whether he can be transferred. It reported prosecutors said they will argue at Wednesday's hearing that he should remain in custody, citing the seriousness of the charges, his criminal record, and what they described as a threat to public safety. KCRA, by Jaiden Singh, updated at 4:22 p.m. PST the same day, reported he faces two counts of murder with a multiple murder special circumstance, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon, and multiple gun enhancements, and that he was also charged with suffering a prior conviction for a violent offense. Faces, on KCRA, and has been charged, on CBS Sacramento, are not the same verb. Three counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon, and multiple weapons-related charges and enhancements, are not the same list. Charged with suffering a prior conviction, and an allegation that qualifies as a strike, are not the same words. KCRA reported the office filed a juvenile petition to transfer him, that he is expected in Juvenile Court on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 9 a.m., for an arraignment and detention hearing, and that the court will hold a hearing on whether he should be transferred. Wednesday at 9 a.m., and Wednesday with no clock, are not the same schedule. KCRA's headline says he is to be tried as an adult. The body says the district attorney seeks to try him as an adult. Those are not the same status. UPI, by Darryl Coote, timed Nov. 3, 2026, at 9:00 p.m., reported Solano County District Attorney Krishna Abrams filed two counts of murder with a multiple-murder special-circumstance allegation, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon, and multiple gun enhancements, plus an allegation of a prior conviction for a violent offense. Special-circumstance, hyphenated that way, is UPI's. Semiautomatic, as one word, is UPI's. Semi-automatic, with a hyphen, is KCRA's. UPI did not print the word strike. It reported she requested that he be tried as an adult and that he was scheduled for juvenile court at 9 a.m. PST Wednesday. Filed, and faces, are not the same status. No page read for this update reported that Wednesday's hearing had been held or that a judge had ordered a transfer. The paragraphs below are Monday's arrest, when the counts were what police said.
CBS Sacramento reported the gunfire killed Constance Hages, 31, who was pregnant, and wounded six other people. UPI's lede reported two counts of murder for the shooting deaths of a pregnant woman and her unborn child, and a later sentence reported he is accused of fatally shooting Constance Hages and her unborn child. Who was pregnant, and her unborn child stated as a second death, are not the same account of the second murder count. KCRA reported a 31-year-old woman who was pregnant was killed and did not print an unborn-child sentence. CBS Sacramento reported prosecutors have released his name and that the station is not identifying him while the case remains in juvenile court. KCRA reported it is declining to name him because he has not yet been charged as an adult. UPI reported the district attorney's office identified him by name. This story does not print that name. A street address, a school, and a 2025 case were on the Tuesday pages and are not repeated here. KCRA reported Fairfield police said on Thursday that he entered Spirit Halloween at Solano Town Center and shot at an intended target, a customer, after a previous altercation, and that the gunfire hit that person and six others. Thursday, on that sentence, and Friday, Oct. 30, the shooting date already in this file, are not the same day. The Monday accounts below include what Chief Dan Marshall said about the target. A Tuesday filing is not a finding about who was targeted. The 16-year-old who was wounded is not named. Madison Heights is unchanged below.
KTVU, ABC7, NBC News, KCRA, and CBS Sacramento reported Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, that Fairfield police arrested a 17-year-old in Suisun City in the Friday night shooting inside the Spirit Halloween at Solano Town Center. KTVU, by KTVU Staff, published at 2:57 p.m. PST and updated at 4:48 p.m. PST, reported a 17-year-old boy is in custody, that he was arrested at his home in Suisun City, and that the Fairfield Police Department could not release his name because he is a minor. The same story prints that the name is being withheld "as he is minor." Could not release, and is being withheld, are both on that page. NBC News, by Dennis Romero, timed Nov. 2, 2026, 8:34 p.m. EST, reported a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Suisun City, which it called a municipality adjacent to Fairfield, and that his name will not be released because he is a minor. It reported Chief Dan Marshall said the teen will be charged with one count of murder but could face an additional murder count because Constance Hages, 31, was pregnant. It did not print a count of attempted murder. KTVU reported he faces one count of murder and six counts of attempted murder for the people who were wounded, and that because the victim was pregnant the district attorney's office could pursue an additional murder charge. Faces, and will be charged, are not the same status. Six counts of attempted murder, and no attempted-murder line, are not the same list. Could pursue, and could face, are not the same verb. KCRA's page, updated at 6:23 p.m. PST, did not print a reporter's name in the text retrieved. It reported a 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody at his home in Suisun City and that the identity "was not release because of his age." It reported he is being charged with murder and attempted murder, and it did not print six or one. ABC7's page, timed Monday, November 2, 2026, 11:05 p.m., with no byline in the text retrieved, reported a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Suisun City and was booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Booked on suspicion, being charged, faces, and will be charged are four statuses. CBS Sacramento, by Cecilio Padilla and Richard Ramos, updated November 2, 2026, at 5:27 p.m. PST, reported a 17-year-old, not a 17-year-old boy, faces charges of murder and attempted murder, and that the name has not been released because he is a juvenile. Minor, age, and juvenile are not the same word. NBC News reported Marshall said he was arrested at his home Monday afternoon and is believed to have acted alone. KTVU did not print afternoon or alone. CBS Sacramento reported police do not believe there were any additional shooters. Acted alone, and no additional shooters, are not the same sentence. He is not named. Monday's arrest is later than the Saturday and Sunday accounts below, which said no one had been detained.
The Monday condition lists are not the Friday lists below. KTVU reported Constance Hages, 31, a pregnant mother of four, was killed, that six other males, ages 16 to 43, were wounded, that two of the victims have since been released, and that a 19-year-old remains in critical condition on Monday. KCRA reported the 19-year-old man remains in critical condition, that the 16-year-old boy, the 32-year-old man, and the 23-year-old man are in stable condition, and that a 19-year-old man and a 43-year-old man were released. ABC7 reported six males, aged 43, 32, 23 and 16 and two 19-year-olds, were wounded, and that one of the 19-year-olds was still hospitalized in critical condition on Monday. CBS Sacramento reported that as of Sunday a 19-year-old man remained in critical condition and three others remained hospitalized in stable condition, and that her family told investigators she was pregnant. Sunday, and Monday, are not the same day. Family told investigators, in CBS Sacramento, and a pregnant mother of four stated as fact, in KTVU, and who was pregnant, police said, in ABC7, are not the same pregnancy status as the coroner-pending accounts below. NBC News reported Marshall said a 16-year-old boy and two men, ages 19 and 32, were left in critical condition, that a 23-year-old man was stable in critical condition, and that all but one of the victims still hospitalized Monday had been stabilized, with one still in critical condition. Were left in critical condition, and had been stabilized by Monday, are both in that story. KTVU reported Marshall could not say whether Hages was the intended target or which of the wounded was targeted. KCRA reported the suspect shot at an intended target, a customer, with whom there had been a previous altercation. NBC News reported Officer Michelle Belyea said the shooter entered the store and targeted someone specific, and that Marshall said the shooter used a handgun and that there may have been a previous altercation. KTVU reported he pulled out a firearm. A handgun, and a firearm, are not the same word. Could not say whether she was the target, and shot at an intended target, are not the same finding. KTVU quoted Marshall, "It's time for change in California," and "I don't know how many more people have to die at the hands of youth." ABC7 quoted, "It's time for change in California," and "I don't know how many more people have to be killed by youth." Die at the hands of, and be killed by, are not the same verb. NBC News quoted, "California has gotten extremely soft on accountability with youth." The 16-year-old who was wounded is not named. The paragraphs below are the Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 accounts.
NBC News, updated Oct. 31, 2026, at 1:16 p.m. EDT, reported a manhunt for a shooter who killed one person and injured six Friday night inside a Spirit Halloween at the Solano Town Center mall in Fairfield, California, around 8:30 p.m. local time. It reported Fairfield police identified the woman killed as Constance Hages, 31, that her family told police she was pregnant, and that confirmation from the Solano County Coroner was pending. NBC Bay Area, by Victoria Meza and Thom Jensen, updated Oct. 31, 2026, at 9:02 p.m., with no time zone on that line, opened by saying a pregnant woman was killed and that police said so on Saturday. The next paragraph reported that authorities said her family told detectives she was pregnant, and that police said the information will be confirmed following an examination by the Solano County Coroner. The Sacramento Bee, by Hannah Ruhoff, updated Oct. 31, 2026, at 4:44 p.m., with no zone printed, reported her family told police she was pregnant and that police say they have not yet confirmed that. The Bee's update headline calls her a pregnant woman. KCRA's identification story, by Daniel Macht and Andres Valle, updated 7:36 a.m. PST on Nov. 1, 2026, reported she was pregnant at the time of her death, family told police, and did not print a coroner examination. KCRA's video story, by Denzen Cortez, updated 7:17 a.m. PST the same morning, reported her family told investigators she was pregnant, though authorities said that information would be confirmed by the Solano County coroner. Coroner and coroner are not the same capitalization. Told police, told detectives, and told investigators are not the same verb. Pending, will be confirmed, have not yet confirmed, and a sentence that states she was pregnant are not the same status. CBS News, updated Oct. 31, 2026, at 5:40 p.m. EDT and labeled CBS/AP, reported family members told detectives she was pregnant and that police are working to confirm that following an examination by the Solano County Coroner. CBS called the retailer a Halloween Spirit in the lede and Spirit Halloween later in the same story.
The wounded are not one list. NBC News reported a 16-year-old boy and two men, ages 19 and 32, were in critical condition, that a 23-year-old man remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition, and that two other men, ages 19 and 43, were treated and released. NBC Bay Area, the Sacramento Bee, CBS News, and KCRA's video story printed that split. KCRA's identification story printed that the 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and the 23-year-old man all remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Critical, and critical but stable, are not the same condition, and folding the 23-year-old into the first group is not the same report as keeping him apart. None of these pages printed the 16-year-old's name. NBC News reported Chief Dan Marshall said Friday night that at least three victims were in critical condition, and it quoted him that day on detectives working to identify the suspect or suspects. It reported police said Saturday that preliminary information pointed to one suspect. Suspect or suspects, and one suspect, are not the same number. KCRA's identification story, the later of the two Sunday morning updates, reported no one has been detained, and that as of Saturday morning police believed the shooting stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect inside Spirit Halloween. KCRA's video story reported no arrests had been announced as of Saturday night, and that police had not publicly identified the person they were searching for. No one detained, in a story updated Sunday morning, and no arrest announced as of Saturday night, are not the same clock. NBC News reported the FBI's Sacramento field office said Friday night that it deployed its evidence response team. KCRA's identification story reported FBI Sacramento was deploying its Evidence Response Team. KCRA's video story reported the FBI's Sacramento office is assisting and did not print the team name. NBC Bay Area, the Sacramento Bee, and the CBS News story did not print the FBI. The Bee reported Solano Town Center is about 35 miles southwest of Sacramento. CBS News reported Fairfield is about 37 miles northeast of Sacramento. Southwest and northeast are not the same direction. KCRA reported Spirit Halloween said the Fairfield store would remain closed until further notice. CBS News reported a company spokesperson said the affected stores will remain closed until the end of the season. Until further notice, and until the end of the season, are not the same closing.
The Michigan shooting is a different set of words, and the place is not one place. CBS Detroit, by DeJanay Booth-Singleton and Elle Meyers, updated Oct. 30, 2026, at 11:36 p.m. EDT, reported the shooting was inside a Spirit Halloween sometime after 2 p.m. in the 32000 block of John R Road. It reported the victim was a 21-year-old man from Detroit and the alleged shooter was a 21-year-old man from Oak Park, assaulted by the victim's family, taken to a hospital for minor injuries, who will remain in police custody. It reported investigators anticipate seeking criminal charges, and it did not name the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. The Detroit Free Press, updated Oct. 30, 2026, at 9:57 p.m. ET, reported a department statement that a 21-year-old Detroit man is dead after a shooting in the store on John R Road just after 2 p.m., after a brief altercation with a 21-year-old Oak Park man. The Free Press printed that the victim "had been shot had been shot multiple times." It reported a 9mm handgun, that bystanders assaulted the suspect, that the injuries were non-life-threatening, and that he was expected to be released from medical care "soon" but will remain in police custody. It quoted, "Detectives will be submitting this investigation to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for review at the conclusion," and "Based on the evidence gathered thus far, investigators anticipate seeking criminal charges in this case." NBC News quoted a Madison Heights release in which a 21-year-old Detroit resident later succumbed, and the alleged shooter, a 21-year-old man, sustained "non life threatening" injuries after several bystanders assaulted him as officers took him into custody. That quotation does not print Oak Park. It uses "Based on the evidence gained thus far." Gained and gathered are not the same word. Minor injuries, non-life-threatening injuries, and non life threatening injuries are not the same phrase. The victim's family, and several bystanders, are not the same people. mlive, by John Agar, published Oct. 31, 2026, at 7:32 p.m., with no zone printed, reported the man was shot and killed outside a Spirit Halloween after a brief altercation in a retail store parking lot in the 32000 block of John R Road around 2 p.m., and that ClickOnDetroit identified the business as Spirit Halloween. Inside the store, at the entrance, and outside in a parking lot are not the same place. mlive reported he was beaten by several bystanders while police arrested him, that police recovered a 9mm pistol, and that detectives expect to seek charges and will submit reports to Oakland County prosecutors for review. A 9mm pistol, a 9mm handgun, and no gun line at all are not the same evidence. Will be submitting at the conclusion, and will submit, are not the same timing. The Daily Mail, updated at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Oct. 31, 2026, reported investigators have submitted their investigation to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. Have submitted, on a Saturday afternoon story, and will submit, on mlive's Saturday evening story, are not the same status. The Daily Mail also printed a department sentence containing the word "aquatinted," and a caption that says Oak Place. Oak Park and Oak Place are not the same city. FOX 2 Detroit, by Jack Nissen, published Oct. 30, 2026, at 2:40 p.m. EDT, reported one man is dead and, in the same story, that both were taken to separate hospitals and that their condition is unknown. It reported both men were 21, that one was from Detroit and the other is from Oak Park, and it did not say which man was shot. It reported the shooter was injured by "family of the victim that was struck." It did not print a charge or a prosecutor.
CBS Detroit quoted Chief Brent Lemerise: "In situations like this, we want to make sure that people aren't using the most precaution they can." The Daily Mail quoted "Police Chief Lemerise" and printed "are using" in that sentence. Aren't and are are not the same word. The Detroit Free Press reported that the suspected shooter's wife, Alanna Benson, and his mother said he was acting in self defense. The Daily Mail spelled a first name Alana and attributed that interview to WDIV. Alanna Benson and Alana are not the same printed name. None of the police statements quoted here print a self-defense finding. NBC News ended the Michigan section with the sentence "The incidents do not appear to be connected." That sentence is not attributed to a department on the page. CBS News reported both shootings in one story and did not print it. No page used here names the 17-year-old arrested in Fairfield. No page used here names either Madison Heights man. Anticipating charges in Madison Heights is not a charge. The Fairfield counts in the paragraphs above are what police told those outlets on Monday. They are not a conviction. No account used here reports a bond or a court date in either shooting. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account.
