Holt was sentenced to weekend jail after a no-contest plea in Hulswit's death.

Stephanie Holt, 32, of St. Clair Shores, was sentenced in Macomb County Circuit Court to 365 days in the Macomb County Jail, structured as weekend confinement, plus two years of probation. The sentence follows a July 15 no-contest plea in the Nov. 1, 2025 death of Mary Hulswit, 76.

A sentence after a no-contest plea is the court's judgment on the felony that was admitted. It is not a trial verdict. Judge Jennifer M. Faunce sentenced Stephanie Holt, 32, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, to 365 days in the Macomb County Jail, structured as about 100 consecutive weekends, plus two years of probation, 200 hours of community service, counseling, and no contact with the Hulswit family. The sentence date is reported as Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, in coverage that began Friday, Sept. 25.

On July 15, Holt pleaded no contest to failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony punishable by up to 15 years. Mary Hulswit, 76, a great-grandmother, was struck on Nov. 1, 2025, when Holt backed a vehicle out of a driveway and left without summoning help. Hulswit was found at the end of the driveway. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said, "No one should ever leave the scene of an injury accident." The weekend-jail term is the judgment on that no-contest plea.

Defense attorney Derek Miller argued for weekends so Holt could find work. He said she returned home when police asked, that she cooperated and confessed, that it was a tragic accident, and that she would "never hurt a fly," with no prior criminal history or traffic violations. CBS Detroit reported neighbor criticism of the leniency. Those are counsel's arguments and the reported reaction. They do not change the judgment Judge Faunce entered.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
