A judge holds Talyn Vigil on a $2 million cash-only bond in the Preston Lord case.
azfamily reported that Talyn Vigil was booked into jail overnight Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, on first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated robbery in the Queen Creek case charging him in the death of teenager Preston Lord. A 2 a.m. hearing set a $2 million cash-only bond. If he posts it, the station reported, he returns to electronic monitoring, house arrest, and drug and alcohol testing. The next date is Oct. 14.

A cash-only bond is a price on release, not a verdict on the homicide. azfamily reported that a judge modified Talyn Vigil's conditions overnight Wednesday and that Vigil is now held on $2 million cash only in the Preston Lord case. Posting that cash would put him back on a monitor, house arrest, and testing. The murder, kidnapping, and aggravated-robbery captions remain accusations. Three earlier arrests are the record the state used to ask for tighter custody. They do not prove how Preston Lord died.
azfamily reported Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, that Talyn Vigil was booked into jail overnight on first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated robbery in the case charging him in the death of Queen Creek teenager Preston Lord. At a 2 a.m. hearing, a judge ruled on a motion to modify Vigil's release conditions and set a $2 million cash-only bond. If he posts that bond, azfamily reported, he goes back to the conditions he had before: an electronic monitor installed before release, house arrest, and alcohol and drug testing. The next court date is Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. A new bond decides where he sleeps tonight. It does not decide the Queen Creek charges.
The figure replaces a bond he already posted. azfamily reported that Vigil was indicted in March 2024 on murder and kidnapping and posted a million-dollar bond the following month. Wednesday's order is larger, and it is cash only, so the full $2 million has to be posted in cash rather than by a surety bond for a percentage of the amount. That is why the number can hold someone the order still treats as eligible for release. The judge priced release. He did not cancel it. If the cash is posted, the monitor, house arrest, and testing come back with him. None of that is a finding on murder, kidnapping, or aggravated robbery.
The hearing followed a reset. azfamily reported that Maricopa County Pretrial Services asked the court to reconsider Vigil's release after three arrests while he was out, and that less than a week ago Judge Sam J. Myers delayed a decision on revocation. Myers said he did not have independent knowledge of what happened and asked for a police report or body-camera footage. Prosecutors said they could supply it. Both sides agreed to reset so the defense could get what the station called critical data. A request to jail someone again has to rest on a record the defense can see. The 2 a.m. order is the next step after that reset. azfamily did not describe a trial.
Those three arrests are separate accusations. In September 2025, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office said, Vigil violated an order of protection. Court documents described by azfamily say he first denied communicating or meeting with the protected person, then admitted he had. He was jailed in November 2025. In February 2026, Gilbert police arrested him for reckless driving. Last month Tempe police arrested him a third time for allegedly drag racing another man on a motorcycle near Arizona State University. He faces misdemeanor reckless driving and speeding in that case, and he was out on bond. Prosecutors have asked to revoke house arrest because of the arrests. A protection-order case and two driving cases can matter at a bond hearing. They are not proof of a killing.
The defense contest on the homicide is about whether Vigil was there. azfamily reported that his lawyers have fought the murder and kidnapping charges and have questioned whether he was at the scene at all. If prosecutors cannot prove he was there, or cannot prove he participated, every count that depends on that proof is in trouble. Aggravated robbery is on the Wednesday booking list azfamily published. The same article describes the March 2024 indictment as murder and kidnapping. A booking sheet often uses the sheriff's shorthand, and those words do not always match an indictment line for line. The sheet is paperwork after a bond ruling. It is not a new grand-jury vote. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
