Thirty years for second-degree murder and 10 years for armed criminal action, run together, are the term both pages report. Back-to-back and consecutively are not the same word. February 2024 and Feb. 5, 2025, are not the same date. Age 64 and age 65 are not the same age.

Yahoo News, in a story by Priscilla Mace whose page record lists datePublished and dateModified as 2026-11-02T22:58:06Z, reported that a Lawrence County man could spend decades in prison for shooting and killing an Amazon delivery driver two years ago. It reported that Monday afternoon a judge sentenced Thomas Coy, 64, to 30 years in prison for second degree murder and 10 years in prison for armed criminal action, and that the judge then ordered those sentences to run back-to-back, giving Coy 40 years for the February 2024 shooting death of 23-year-old Jasmine Taylor. The page's provider line is KSNF Joplin. The copyright line says the material is Nexstar's and points readers to KSNF/KODE. Second degree, without a hyphen, is the Yahoo count. The Joplin Globe, by John Hacker, whose page record's datetime is 2026-11-02T15:55:00-06:00, reported from Mount Vernon that a Wentworth man was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Monday after pleading guilty in September to shooting the driver of an Amazon delivery truck with a pellet rifle on a Lawrence County road near his house. It names Thomas Edward Coy, 65, and says he pleaded guilty on Sept. 14 to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting of the Joplin driver. It says her name is not listed in court records. It reported Lawrence County Circuit Judge David Allen Cole sentenced him to 30 years for the second-degree murder charge and 10 years for the armed criminal action charge, with the sentences to be served consecutively, and that he was immediately remanded to the Missouri Department of Corrections for transport to a state prison. Thomas Coy and Thomas Edward Coy are not the same full name on the page. Age 64 and age 65 are not the same age. Back-to-back and consecutively are not the same word. Second degree and second-degree are not the same hyphenation. Yahoo does not print the judge, Sept. 14, Mount Vernon, or the Department of Corrections. The Globe's first sentence prints 40 years. The 30 and the 10 are in the next sentence. Yahoo prints Monday afternoon. The Globe prints Monday and does not print afternoon.

What the two pages say happened is not one date and not one weapon. Yahoo reported Coy pleaded guilty in September and admitted to shooting her in the head with a .22-caliber air rifle as she was approaching his driveway in Wentworth while she delivered packages for Amazon. It reported that when authorities first arrived, they found her van crashed into a fence and her laying in a ditch. It reported hospital officials called saying Taylor had a bullet wound to her head, and the next words on the page are "she died a few days later," set as a link. It reported Coy told police she shot Taylor with a pellet gun, removed her from the vehicle and put her in the ditch, and that neighbors said he often complained that delivery vehicles drove too fast down his road. "She shot" is the pronoun on that police sentence. The admission sentence before it uses he. A .22-caliber air rifle, in the admission, and a pellet gun, in the police sentence, are not the same phrase. The Globe reported Coy wrote in plea documents that he shot the driver with a pellet gun, and that the document did not reflect whether he had told authorities why he shot the woman driver. It reported Lt. Chris D. Berry, a Lawrence County Sheriff's Department division commander, wrote in an earlier affidavit that Coy admitted he shot the victim with a pellet rifle, went to the Amazon truck, took the victim out of the seat and laid her in a roadside ditch. Pellet rifle, in the Globe lede and in that affidavit, and pellet gun, in the plea documents, are not the same phrase. The Globe reported Berry's statement said the delivery truck was seen by a witness about 3:45 p.m. Feb. 5, 2025, on County Road 4152, west of Missouri Highway 97, when it ran off the road, into a field and hit a fence. It reported that about two hours later, sheriff's dispatch received a call from personnel at Mercy Joplin Hospital reporting that the driver, a 23-year-old woman from Joplin, had a bullet wound and the bullet was lodged in her head. It reported Berry watched a video in the delivery truck that showed the victim's vehicle in a driveway at 3902 Lawrence County Road 2152, with the victim slumped over in the seat, and that Berry reported that address is Coy's house. County Road 4152 and Lawrence County Road 2152 are both on the Globe page. They are not the same road number. February 2024, on Yahoo, and Feb. 5, 2025, on the Globe, are not the same date. "Two years ago," in a story dated Nov. 2, 2026, is Yahoo's distance. It is not a date. Van, delivery truck, and Amazon truck are not the same vehicle word. Crashed into a fence, and ran off the road into a field and hit a fence, are not the same path. Laying in a ditch, and a roadside ditch, are not the same place line. Yahoo names Jasmine Taylor and prints a shooting death and "she died a few days later." The Globe does not print her name, does not print "died a few days later," and does print a second-degree murder plea and a bullet lodged in her head. Approaching his driveway in Wentworth is Yahoo. The numbered roads, 3:45 p.m., Highway 97, and Mercy Joplin Hospital are the Globe. The speed complaint is Yahoo. The Globe's sentence paragraphs do not print it.

The Globe reported Coy was charged as a persistent offender, having been previously convicted of at least two drug-related offenses in 2004, court records show. It reported Berry wrote that Coy was someone with an extensive criminal history that included failure to appear and "many felony convictions." Those earlier convictions, as the affidavit describes them, are not Monday's sentence. Yahoo does not print persistent offender, 2004, Berry, or that quotation. The Yahoo portrait used here is the page's social image, one adult man in a pink shirt against a block wall. The story's other frame is a composite that places that portrait beside a van scene. That composite was not used. A separate frame on the page is alt-texted Jasmine Taylor. She is not pictured. The Globe's page image is a small site graphic. It was not used. Monday's 30 years and 10 years are the sentence both pages report. The plea those pages date to September is the judgment that sentence follows. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Middle District of Georgia release says Judge Self sentenced Josue Serda to life in prison. FOX 5 Atlanta and WSB-TV say life without parole.

Life in prison, and life without parole, and there is no parole in the federal system, are not the same sentence. More than 50 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 50 kilograms, are not the same quantity. Three investigations, and one ring that seized more than 200 kilograms, are not the same case. A charge against Raul Perez-Mondragon is an allegation.

Roland Chatmon and three others pleaded guilty in the kidnapping of his uncle, Curtis Dixon.

A guilty plea is the conviction on the counts a defendant admits. It is not the prison term. FOX 2 and the New York Post say the four kidnapping defendants face a mandatory minimum of seven years and a maximum of life, with hearings in 2027. WXYZ reported that all five, including Kenneth Anderson, face that range. FOX 2, CBS Detroit, and the Post say Anderson was already sentenced to probation.

An Ottawa jury found Fsha Tekhle guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing of Brkti Berhe.

A first-degree murder verdict is the jury's finding on that count. CBC wrote that the conviction comes with automatic life sentences, plural, and no eligibility for parole for 25 years. The Ottawa Citizen described an automatic sentence of life without parole for 25 years. No eligibility for parole for 25 years, and life without parole for 25 years, are not the same words. Tekhle admitted causing the death and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
