On Sept. 24, 2026, in Vermilion County, Illinois, Tichina Marshall, 29, formerly of Danville, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and was sentenced the same day to 12 years in prison, plus 3 years of mandatory supervised release. She must serve 85 percent of the term.

A sentence after a guilty plea is the court's judgment on the admitted count. It is not an open accusation. On Sept. 24, 2026, Judge Karen E. Wall sentenced Tichina Marshall in People v. Tichina Marshall, 2025-CF-399, after Marshall pleaded guilty that day to attempt first-degree murder, a Class X felony. The term is 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and 3 years of mandatory supervised release, and she must serve 85 percent of the prison sentence.

On May 26, 2025, Danville police responded to the former Wendy's on North Vermilion Street. The victim was on the floor, bleeding uncontrollably and nearly unconscious, after a stab wound to the head. The State's Attorney's Office said the victim had been speaking with a manager in a small office when Marshall entered with a knife, said "I am going to kill you," and struck the victim at least twice in the face and once on top of the head. Vermilion County First and the State's Attorney's Office described a 3-centimeter-deep stab wound to the head and a fractured skull. A threat to kill the victim about a month earlier, at the same Wendy's, was also reported, and the May 26 attack was captured on surveillance. That is the account the plea resolved.

The New York Post reported that an aggravated battery count was dropped and that Marshall pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder. The State's Attorney's Office release focuses on that plea and the sentence. Vermilion County State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said the sentence reflects the violent nature of the case and the devastating injuries, and that no sentence undoes the lasting effects. The New York Post reported that the Wendy's location is permanently closed. A closed restaurant is background. The judgment is the guilty plea, the 12-year term, the three years of supervised release, and the requirement that she serve 85 percent.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
