Judge Jalal Harb sentenced TJ Wiggins to consecutive life terms in the Frostproof killings.

On Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, Circuit Judge Jalal Harb in Bartow sentenced Tony Lee "TJ" Wiggins Jr., 32, to life in prison without parole on each of three first-degree murder counts and ordered the terms served consecutively, Court TV reported. On Monday, Oct. 5, the same Polk County jury that convicted him recommended life rather than death. The case is the July 17, 2020 killings of Damion Tillman, Brandon Rollins, and Keven Springfield near Frostproof.

Friday's order is the sentence. Court TV reported that because the jury did not recommend death, Judge Jalal Harb was required to impose life without parole, and that he ran the three terms consecutively. WFLA reported the same Friday life sentence on all three murder counts. The Monday recommendation was the jury's advice. The judgment entered Friday is the term.

Court TV reported that on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, in Bartow, Circuit Judge Jalal Harb sentenced Tony Lee "TJ" Wiggins Jr. to life in prison without parole on each of three murder counts and ordered the sentences served consecutively. WFLA reported the same day that Wiggins was sentenced to life in prison on all three murder charges in the 2020 Frostproof killings. Court TV reported he is 32, that he did not testify in the guilt phase or the penalty phase, and that he sat smiling as the victims' families spoke. When Harb turned to the defense, Court TV reported, the lawyers said they had nothing to present and that Wiggins did not plan to address the court. A woman in the gallery called out, "Not even an apology?" Harb said, "Simply put, what happened on the unfortunate night was a series of senseless acts that's hard to explain." Court TV reported that because the jury voted not to recommend the death penalty, Harb was required by law to impose life without parole. The consecutive terms are the sentence he imposed.

The families spoke before that order. Court TV reported that Brandon Rollins's mother, Dottie Payton, told Wiggins, "I hope every guard, deputy, inmate that you come in contact in prison, their name is Brandon so you can remember that name for the rest of your life, because you murdered my son." She held up a photo and said, "That was my son that you murdered. Get a good close look at him." Damion Tillman's mother, Elizabeth Tillman, said, "If you would have met my son, he would have gave you the shirt off his back," and "If this was because of the motor, he would have gave it back to you for his life. You took a piece of my family away." WFLA reported she also said, "You took a piece of my family away that I will never have here on Earth with me. I will see my son again in heaven, but I am hoping you will remember what you have done for the rest of your life." Keven Springfield's brother-in-law, Michael Smith, said, "The cowardly act of killing three guys over a motor was senseless," and "There's no sense in killing somebody over $200." Court TV reported he told Wiggins, "I hope every day you spend your life in prison is torturous. Pure evil. Tortuous. You're a coward," and that Harb told him to be quiet as he walked back to the gallery. Those are statements to the court at sentencing. They are not new evidence.

The sentence follows the jury's Monday recommendation and the earlier guilty verdicts. FOX 13 Tampa Bay reported that on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, the same jury recommended life on all three counts. FOX 13 reported the victims as Damion Tillman, 23, Brandon Rollins, 28, and Keven Springfield, 30. Court TV's Friday account listed Rollins as 27. The stations do not agree on that age. FOX 13 reported prosecutors said Wiggins spotted Tillman at a Dollar General, followed him to Lake Streety Road, where Tillman was meeting Rollins and Springfield for a night fishing trip, punched Springfield during a dispute over a truck engine, beat at least one of the men with a gun butt, and fired at least 10 rounds. Court TV reported prosecutors said Wiggins's truck was found in Springfield's possession and that the engine had been put into Tillman's truck, and that Wiggins shot the three men, then drove off with his girlfriend and his brother and stopped for cheeseburgers at McDonald's. Court TV reported the brother had been called to testify, then backed out of a plea deal and denied being at the scene. The defense argued the state had no direct proof Wiggins had a gun in his hand or that the killings were premeditated, FOX 13 reported. He did not testify. The jury's answer on guilt, and then its life recommendation, are what Harb sentenced on Friday.

FOX 13 had reported that a death recommendation requires at least eight of the 12 jurors. Monday's recommendation was life on all three counts. Court TV reported that recommendation left Harb no lawful choice but life without parole, and that he made the three terms consecutive. The guilty verdicts remain the findings on guilt. Friday's order is the punishment. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
