French Avenue, on the Oct. 15 and Oct. 29 Sioux Falls Live stories, and Franklin Avenue, on the Nov. 4 story, are not the same cross street. About 8:30 p.m., shortly before 8:30 p.m., and around 8:25 p.m. are not the same clock. Travis Moore and Travis Mondale Moore are not the same fullness of the name. The Class B life minimum is the penalty Sioux Falls Live assigns to second-degree murder upon conviction. No page here prints a plea or a judge's sentence.

Sioux Falls Live, by Hunter Dunteman, with a byline that read "Today at 9:23 PM" and did not print a calendar date or a time zone, reported Sgt. Cole German on Wednesday, Nov. 4, announced the arrest of 45-year-old Travis Moore, of Sioux Falls. It reported police say Moore was charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 48-year-old Derrick Franklin, of Sioux Falls. Charged is the verb on that page. Dakota News Now, by Donovan Minor, published Nov. 4, 2026, at 9:33 p.m. CST, with an update line that did not print a second clock, reported a Sioux Falls man faces murder and assault charges, and later that 45-year-old Travis Mondale Moore of Sioux Falls was arrested and faces Second-Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault charges. Travis Mondale Moore is that page. Travis Moore is Sioux Falls Live. The Dakota News Now address includes 2026/11/05. The published line is Nov. 4. Faces, and charged, are not the same verb. Second-Degree Murder, with capitals and hyphens, and second-degree murder, are not the same typesetting. Murder and assault charges, in the lede, and the two named counts, are both on that page. 9:33 p.m., and 9:23 p.m., are not the same minute. Dakota News Now does not print German's name. Sioux Falls Live does not print Mondale.

The place and the clock are not one sentence. Sioux Falls Live's Nov. 4 story reported the investigation began at about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, when first responders received a report of a cardiac arrest in the 1000 block of East Eighth Street, near the road's intersection with Franklin Avenue. It reported that upon arrival Franklin was found unconscious and not breathing, with blood on him and a nearby vehicle, that emergency medical responders pronounced him dead a short time later, and that he was found to have sustained two gunshot wounds. It reported a preliminary autopsy listed his death as a homicide. Dakota News Now reported that on October 10, 2026, at around 8:25 p.m., officers were called to the 1000 block of East 8th Street for a cardiac arrest, with reports of a man passed out and covered in blood, and that an officer found a man who had been shot and died on the scene. Around 8:25 p.m., and about 8:30 p.m., are not the same time. East 8th Street, and East Eighth Street, are not the same spelling. Passed out and covered in blood, and unconscious and not breathing with blood on him and a nearby vehicle, are not the same condition. Died on the scene, and pronounced dead a short time later, are not the same death line. Dakota News Now does not print a cross street, two gunshot wounds, a vehicle, or an autopsy. October 10, 2026, with the year, is Dakota News Now. Oct. 10, without the year and without the word Saturday, is the Nov. 4 Sioux Falls Live story.

The earlier Sioux Falls Live stories, by the same reporter, are the no-arrest record. The October 15, 2026, story, at 11:36 a.m., with no zone printed, reported no arrests had been made after a weekend shooting. It reported that shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, first responders were called to the 1000 block of East Eighth Street, near French Avenue, for a cardiac arrest. It reported a 911 caller told police a man was lying on the ground with blood on him and a nearby vehicle, that a first-arriving officer determined the man was not conscious, alert or breathing, and that fire and ambulance crews attempted life-saving measures and after some time pronounced Derrick Franklin dead. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., and about 8:30 p.m., are not the same clock. Not conscious, alert or breathing, and unconscious and not breathing, are not the same fullness. French Avenue, on that page, and Franklin Avenue, on the Nov. 4 story, are not the same street. It reported detectives from the crimes against persons division determined Franklin had been shot twice, and that a preliminary report from the county coroner ruled the death a homicide. A coroner's preliminary report, and a preliminary autopsy, are not the same document name. Ruled, and listed, are not the same verb. It reported that while suspects have been identified, German said no arrests had been made as of Thursday morning, and it quoted him: "Due to the status of this case, I don't want to tip our hand further than that in an effort to preserve the integrity of the case." Suspects, on that page, and potential suspects or persons of interest, on the later pages, are not the same phrase. It reported the State Forensic Lab is assisting, that investigators have an "open line" of communication with the Minnehaha County State's Attorney's Office, and that German said the incident appears to have been isolated and that there is not believed to be any danger to the public. The Nov. 4 arrest story does not print the lab, the isolation line, or the tip-our-hand quotation. The October 29, 2026, story, at 1:58 p.m., with no zone printed, reported that after more than two weeks no arrests had been made. It again put the call shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, near French Avenue. It reported German, of the Crimes Against Persons division, said Franklin was located unconscious and not breathing, that he had been shot twice, that life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and that he was pronounced dead by emergency medical crews a short time later. It reported that in a preliminary report the county's coroner determined the cause of death to be a homicide. Cause of death, and listed the death as a homicide, are not the same sentence. It reported the department did not speak publicly until five days later. It reported that on Thursday, nineteen days later, Sgt. Aaron Benson said, "I have no updates." Nineteen days, on a story dated October 29, and 25 days later, on the Nov. 4 arrest story, are not the same count. Benson is the Oct. 29 story. The Nov. 4 arrest story does not print his name. The Oct. 29 story reported forensic evidence had been forwarded to the South Dakota State Forensic Lab. It called Franklin's death the seventh homicide recorded in Sioux Falls this year, excluding deaths as a result of traffic crashes, and it printed a list of victims that is not repeated here. The Nov. 4 story reported Franklin is a victim of one of seven homicides reported inside Sioux Falls city limits this calendar year. Excluding traffic crashes, and inside city limits, are not the same qualifier. The seventh, and one of seven, are not the same phrasing.

Custody and the Thursday briefing are not the same event. Sioux Falls Live's Nov. 4 story reported that, 25 days later, German said Moore was taken into custody on arrest warrant. That line, as printed, does not put "an" before arrest warrant. It quoted him: "The Sioux Falls Police Department has dedicated a substantial amount of time and resources to further this investigation in connection with community partners." It reported more detail is expected during a Thursday morning news conference at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center, and that Moore is being held at the Minnehaha County Jail without bond pending a court appearance. Dakota News Now reported an arrest warrant with no bond was obtained, and that police are expected to speak more at Thursday's press briefing. An arrest warrant with no bond, and held without bond pending a court appearance, are not the same custody line. A Thursday morning news conference at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center, and Thursday's press briefing, are not the same event. Dakota News Now does not print the jail. It reported the department dedicated a large amount of time and resources to investigating Franklin's death with community partners, and it did not put that sentence in quotation marks and did not name German. Substantial, and large, are not the same adjective. Further this investigation, and investigating Franklin's death, are not the same object. Sioux Falls Live reported second-degree murder is a Class B felony, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison upon conviction, and that aggravated assault is a Class 3 felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Those are the ranges that page assigns to the counts. Dakota News Now does not print the classes or the ranges. No page here prints a plea, a bond hearing, or a sentence a judge imposed. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed.
