A Marion County judge set Trey Clardy's bond on an aggravated-battery charge in Charles DuPree's death.
WTHR reported that on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, Judge Marie Kern set $36,000 cash bond on a felony aggravated-battery count and $1,500 cash on a separate drug case. Clardy, 27, is accused in the Oct. 12 death of Charles A. DuPree, 18. WRTV's Oct. 20 story, from jail records, listed involuntary manslaughter.

Thursday's count is not the count WRTV took from Monday's jail booking. That story listed involuntary manslaughter, possession of cocaine and marijuana, and dealing in cocaine, and said the prosecutor had not made the final decision. WTHR's account of the Thursday appearance lists aggravated battery posing a substantial risk of death and a misdemeanor battery count, with the drugs in another case. Trial, the station reported, is Jan. 11, 2027. An aggravated-battery charge after a death is still a charge.
WTHR reported that Trey Clardy, of Indianapolis, was charged with a felony count of aggravated battery posing a substantial risk of death and a misdemeanor battery count after Charles A. DuPree, 18, died. The station's headline calls Clardy 27. WRTV also calls him 27 and says he is from Indianapolis. WTHR reported he made an initial appearance Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, on this case and on a separate drug case. Marion Superior Court Judge Marie Kern set bond at $36,000 cash in the aggravated-battery case and $1,500 cash in the drug case, the station reported, and set a jury trial for Jan. 11, 2027, in both. WTHR printed the misdemeanor as "battey."
The fight was Oct. 12. WTHR reported that around 7:50 p.m. officers went to the 9900 block of East 38th Street, near North Mitthoefer Road, on a report of a person hit by a vehicle and a fight with a person down. They found DuPree unresponsive in a parking lot. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died. The station reported police determined the fight was between Clardy and DuPree and that no vehicle was involved, and that court documents say he died from severing of the spinal cord. WRTV reported officers were sent just before 7:50 p.m. to a Marathon gas station at East 38th Street and North Mitthoeffer Road on a personal-injury accident, and that IMPD Capt. Rob Rider said at the scene the injuries were not an accident and were likely from a fight between at least two people. Mitthoefer is the spelling WTHR printed. Mitthoeffer is the spelling WRTV printed. WRTV calls him Charles Dupree. WTHR uses Charles A. DuPree.
The account of the video is in WTHR's Thursday story, from court documents. The station reported gas-station surveillance showed a vehicle pull in, DuPree and a man with him approach Clardy, Clardy punch DuPree, punch the man with him, and then go back to punching and pushing DuPree, inside about three minutes. Officers did not find him at the scene. On Oct. 19, WTHR reported, a SWAT team took him into custody, and the documents say officers used non-lethal bean-bag rounds and struck him more than once. The station reported cocaine and marijuana were in his pockets, which is the separate drug case. A witness told detectives, WTHR reported, that Clardy said, "I hope that motherf***** dies." The station reported he first told detectives he did not know DuPree or the other man and did not remember the lot, and later said he knew them, that he fought with them, and that he slapped DuPree and motioned pushing him because DuPree spit on him and hit him. WTHR reported the documents say detectives did not see an injury on Clardy, that he said he did not mean to kill DuPree, and that the documents refer to a previous domestic violence report. That report is not a conviction in an earlier case. Those are the document accounts the station printed.
WRTV's story, updated Oct. 20, is the jail booking, not the Thursday hearing. The station reported inmate records listed involuntary manslaughter, possession of cocaine and marijuana, and dealing in cocaine, and that the Marion County prosecutor was still expected to decide the final charges. That story does not describe Judge Kern, the aggravated-battery count, or the January trial date. Thursday's counts, in WTHR's account of the appearance, are aggravated battery and misdemeanor battery. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Thames Valley Police charged Joshua Clarke with murder in the Datchet crash that killed Daniel Shipton.
The murder count is the charge. The age on the public record moved a day later. Thames Valley Police amended it to 40 on Oct. 22. BBC's story the day of the charge called him 39. BBC reported he had already been before magistrates and was due at Reading Crown Court on Thursday. This account does not have a report of what that Thursday listing produced. A murder charge is the accusation.

Pemberton Mayor Matthew Bianchini lunged at a resident, and the resident asked a court for charges.
A complaint a resident files is a request that charges be brought. It is not a charge police or a prosecutor have announced. WPVI and Fox News reported the department has not said whether it will file the counts Sawka listed. Bianchini told WPVI the lunge was wrong and that he would do it again if he had to. Those are his words after the meeting. They are not a plea, and they are not a finding that a crime occurred.

Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides were charged with lying to Congress about FBI Hunter Biden inquiries.
Friday is a complaint and a first appearance. It is not a grand jury indictment, and it is not a finding that either person lied. CBS News reported Faruqui called that charging method strange for testimony from 2023 and put the next hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday. NPR reported the same Tuesday return without the hour. That hearing is about probable cause. It is not a trial.
