Tuesday was the first day of testimony, not a verdict. FOX 4's afternoon updates add a medical examiner, a first responder, two highway witnesses, and Jackson. WFAA's Wednesday blog, updated at 8:36 a.m., said testimony was set to resume at 9 a.m. and had not named a new witness.
WFAA and FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reported Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that testimony began in Dallas in the capital murder trial of Markies Conway, the rapper known as Yella Beezy. WFAA reported he is accused of hiring and paying $40,000 to Kewon White to kill fellow Dallas rapper Mo3, whose real name is Melvin Noble. NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reported prosecutors say he paid White $40,000. CBS News Texas reported court documents allege a promised cash payment and did not print an amount. Conway has pleaded not guilty, FOX 4, WFAA, CBS News Texas, and NBC 5 reported. FOX 4 reported he has denied involvement. Judge Chika Anyiam is presiding, WFAA, FOX 4, and NBC 5 reported.
A jury was seated Monday. FOX 4 reported a panel of 12 was sworn in Monday afternoon. CBS News Texas reported twelve jurors and three alternates were selected after a session of more than eight hours, that some potential jurors were removed because of weapons charges in their history, and that one was removed after saying his conscience could not handle the case. FOX 4 reported that on Tuesday morning Anyiam dismissed one juror because of a child-care issue and seated an alternate. FOX 4 reported Conway came into the courtroom for the first day of testimony. WFAA reported prosecutor Tommy Adams gave the opening statement. FOX 4 reported Adams described Noble's Nov. 11, 2020 death as an orchestrated murder-for-hire that grew out of a feud of several years, and that he told jurors the state would present surveillance footage, travel logs, and text messages. WFAA reported Adams told jurors the feud began in 2017, that "Everybody saw what was going on," and that "We're building a puzzle" for a guilty verdict of capital murder.
The defense opening is an argument, not evidence. WFAA reported defense attorney Toby Shook told jurors the theory that Conway paid $40,000 in cash through an intermediary to White is flawed, that the money police found with White was not that cash and was drug money unrelated to the killing, and that police got "tunnel vision" and focused on Conway. FOX 4 reported Shook argued the state's money link does not hold because Conway's bank withdrawal was crisp large bills and the money recovered from White was mixed small bills consistent with drug transactions. FOX 4 reported he also pointed to other possible suspects and motives, including co-defendant Devin Brown's personal animosity toward Noble, and argued investigators ignored those possibilities. WFAA reported Shook said there is ample reasonable doubt.
WFAA reported the first prosecution witness was Nichole Noble, Melvin Noble's mother, and that he was the older of her two children. FOX 4 spelled her name Nicole Noble and reported she was the first witness called, and that she was also the first witness in White's trial. WFAA reported she told jurors he went by Mo3 in public, that he "stole" the name from his father, Melvin Sr., that the family is musical, and that he took the name when he began to rap. WFAA reported she said he left her house on Nov. 9, 2020, for a two-day video shoot in California and said he would be back on the 11th, and that on Nov. 11 she was in Richardson getting ready to play bingo, saw missed calls, and went to the hospital when she learned of the shooting. WFAA reported the next witness was Tamatha Hopkins, who said she was driving on I-35, that cars were zig-zagging, that she heard popping sounds, and that she stopped beside a black sports car and asked if the person inside was OK. WFAA described that day as the day Noble was killed by White. White's guilt was decided in a different trial.
The killing those openings describe was Nov. 11, 2020, on Interstate 35 in Dallas. WFAA reported it was in traffic near the city zoo and was captured on camera. CBS News Texas and NBC 5 reported he was chased on foot on I-35E. FOX 4 reported he was shot 11 times. WFAA reported White was sentenced in September to life in prison without the possibility of parole. CBS News Texas reported the same life-without-parole sentence. FOX 4 and NBC 5 reported a life sentence and did not print the parole language. WFAA reported Conway was arrested in March 2025. FOX 4 reported that if he is convicted of capital murder he faces life in prison, and that the trial is expected to last two to three weeks. CBS News Texas reported the judge said two to three weeks. NBC 5 reported Anyiam expects about three weeks. A third man, Devin Brown, is also charged with capital murder, FOX 4, WFAA, and CBS News Texas reported. WFAA reported court records show Brown's trial is expected to begin in early November. White's September conviction is not a verdict in Conway's case.
FOX 4's Tuesday live updates, revised through 5:17 p.m., go past those first two witnesses. The station reported the jury seated Monday was nine men and three women. It reported Conway came in wearing a maroon turtleneck. It reported two women who were on the highway testified next, that one described a man pulling a mask down and holding a gun, that prosecutors played a 911 call and delivery-truck dash camera video, and that the second woman said Noble died in front of her car. It reported the defense did not cross-examine either woman. WFAA had already named Tamatha Hopkins as the driver who stopped beside the car. FOX 4 did not print her name in those updates. It reported Dallas Fire-Rescue Captain Chris Bloodgood testified about efforts to save Noble and was not cross-examined. It reported retired Dallas County medical examiner Dr. Jeffrey Barnard described wounds to the back, abdomen, and buttocks, and that after lunch he called a wound that punctured the heart the most rapidly lethal. It reported a video security expert showed photos of a gold or tan car and a black car outside the girlfriend's apartment.
FOX 4 reported that in the afternoon Jocylynn Jackson, whom the station described as Noble's girlfriend, testified under subpoena and said she did not want to testify. It reported she had two children with Devin Brown before that relationship ended in 2018, and that she started dating Noble in 2020. The children are not named here. It reported she said Brown called a child's phone the morning of the shooting to ask whether Noble was at the apartment, that records of those calls were shown, and that she used that phone to confront Brown, who denied involvement. It reported she said she knew of a public feud involving Noble, Yella Beezy, and Trapboy Freddy because she went to school with them. It reported that on cross-examination she said she did not recall telling the district attorney's office that Noble had no beef with Yella Beezy, and that she testified, "I said that he wasn't worried about him and that he really disliked Freddy." It reported jurors were shown photos of injuries she said she sustained in a 2017 assault by Brown, and records of a 2018 support dispute. It reported the defense played a social-media video Noble posted before a birthday party, and that Jackson testified it angered Brown and that he blocked her. It reported she told the judge she did not want that video shown. The children in it are not named here.
FOX 4 reported Nicole Noble, on cross-examination, said that after the shooting she told investigators to look at four people, including Noble's manager, Brandon Rainwater, and the rappers Yella Beezy and Trapboy Freddy. It reported she described her son as a father of three who supported her so she could help raise his children, and that the defense drew a line between the stage name MO3 and the man the family called Bubba. Those children are not named here. WFAA spells the mother Nichole. FOX 4 spells her Nicole. FOX 4 reported the trial had been delayed a month so the defense could get a copy of White's trial transcript. It reported testimony stopped for the day at 5:15 p.m. and was set to resume Wednesday at 9 a.m. WFAA's Wednesday live blog, updated at 8:36 a.m. CDT on Oct. 28, said testimony would resume at 9 a.m. and did not name a witness from that morning. That blog calls him Melvin Noble Jr., says he was 28, and says Conway turned 35 this month. Tuesday's WFAA story in this file used Melvin Noble and did not print those ages. The same Wednesday blog says White's case is on appeal. That is the station's description of a lawyer who represented White. It is not a written order in Conway's case. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Nicole Virzi pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and was sentenced to 35 to 80 years.
Wednesday's plea is the conviction on those three counts, and the 35-to-80-year term is the sentence on the plea. A first-degree murder count is not the judgment. What she told detectives about shaking and dropping the infant is her recorded statement, as TribLive reported it. The parents' account of why they wanted a plea is what the prosecutor told the court.

Judge William Watson sentenced Charles Stokes to 14 years and 8 months to serve for shooting Heather Burrow.
Tuesday's terms are the sentence on a guilty plea to six felonies. The Courier-Record printed 74 years imposed, 58 years and 4 months suspended, and six terms that add to 73 years if the firearm count is the three-year mandatory minimum it listed. WTVR printed 74 years with all but 14 years and 8 months suspended. Both accounts leave 14 years and 8 months to serve.

Samuel Rocha was sentenced to 27 years to life for driving into bicyclists in Port Hueneme.
Tuesday's term is the sentence on an August guilty plea to second-degree murder and on the April jury convictions for assault and battery. The jury did not return a murder verdict. The office and the Los Angeles Times print the 16-year-old's name. This story does not, and it does not name the other minors who were hurt.
