A murder charge filed after a chase is an accusation. It is not a conviction. The sheriff's office says Cervantes was already dead when deputies arrived and that Gonzalez was the man who would not stop. Cause of death was not in the public release used here.
KOSA, citing the Howard County Sheriff's Office, reported that dispatch got a third-party call about a domestic dispute at 811 Debra Lane around 9:27 a.m. Monday. Deputies found Cervantes on the living-room floor. She had died from her injuries. The Midland Reporter-Telegram, citing the same release, placed the call in the 800 block of Debra Lane and said emergency crews were requested after deputies found her. Texas Rangers assisted.
The suspect's vehicle was seen going north on U.S. Highway 87. Lamesa police, the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety found it in Dawson County and tried to stop it. Gonzalez did not stop. A DPS trooper used a PIT maneuver and ended the pursuit. KOSA identified him as Zyon Gonzalez, 49. He is in the Howard County Detention Center on a murder charge with bond set at $2 million.
A $2 million bond is a custody condition on a murder filing. It does not establish how Cervantes died or what happened inside the house before the call. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Bettendorf credit union employee is charged with taking $28,326.28 from customer accounts, most of them belonging to people who had died.
A theft filing built from account records is an accusation. It is not a finding that every dollar in the complaint moved the way police describe. KWQC reported that one account lost $21,279.51 and that the total across seven accounts was $28,326.28, six of them belonging to people who had died. Those figures are what the charging papers claim.
