TimesLIVE reported Akilesh Gupta's Lichtenburg case was postponed to November 6.

TimesLIVE reported Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that Akilesh Gupta, 23, will stay in custody after the Lichtenburg court put his case off to November 6 for a Hindi interpreter and a possible bail application. Eyewitness News, earlier Tuesday, said the postponement was to next Friday and did not print a calendar date. The Citizen reported Warrant Officer Eunice Nortman was on duty at Lichtenburg Mall and died that evening.

November 6 is one paper's date for the same postponement. It is not a bail ruling, and it is not a finding that Gupta struck Nortman. TimesLIVE reported a malicious-damage count and wrote that a culpable-homicide count was later upgraded to murder. Eyewitness News did not print those two points.

TimesLIVE reported Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that Akilesh Gupta, 23, an Indian national, appeared in the Lichtenburg district court and will remain in custody. The paper reported the case was postponed until November 6 for a Hindi interpreter and a possible bail application. It reported the counts are murder, contravention of the Immigration Act, driving without a valid driver's licence, and malicious damage to property. It reported he was initially charged with culpable homicide and that the count was later upgraded to murder. It reported police identified the officer as Warrant Officer Ennice Nortman, 53, attached to the North West provincial crime intelligence division in the Ngaka Modiri Molema district, and that police said she was struck by a BMW SUV while crossing the driveway at Lichtenburg Mall along Dr Nelson Mandela Drive. TimesLIVE quoted a police statement that she was on duty, was taken to hospital by emergency medical services, and died later that evening. It reported Gupta first appeared on October 21 and was remanded until Tuesday. It quoted National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lindiwe Mabasa saying he allegedly entered the country on a visitor's visa in 2024 that has since expired. November 6 is the date TimesLIVE printed. The Eyewitness News account below said next Friday and did not print a numbered date. Ennice is the spelling in TimesLIVE and in the Oct. 22 Eyewitness News story. Eunice is The Citizen and the Oct. 27 Eyewitness News story. The malicious-damage count, the culpable-homicide history, the driveway, Dr Nelson Mandela Drive, and the visa allegation are TimesLIVE. They are charges.

Eyewitness News reported Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that 23-year-old Akilesh Gupta appeared in the Lichtenburg Magistrates' Court and will remain in custody. The station reported the case was postponed to next Friday so the court can secure a Hindi-speaking translator, that he is accused of murder, and that he has also been charged with contravention of the Immigration Act and driving without a valid licence. It reported he is expected to apply for bail when he returns. The story did not print a numbered date for that Friday. It was published on a Tuesday, and it also said Warrant Officer Eunice Nortman, a mother of two, will be laid to rest on Friday.

The Citizen reported on Oct. 22 that the South African Police Service confirmed Gupta, 23, had appeared in that court on Wednesday and was to return on Oct. 27. The paper quoted North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh saying Nortman was on duty during the incident, was taken to hospital by emergency medical services, and died of her injuries later that evening. Myburgh said a murder case was being investigated and that further charges related to an alleged contravention of immigration legislation were also being pursued. That Oct. 22 wording is an investigation and charges being pursued. Tuesday's Eyewitness News account says the immigration count and a licence count have been charged. Eyewitness News, in an Oct. 22 story, reported police had confirmed he was charged with murder and with contravention of the Immigration Act. The Citizen spelled her name Eunice Nortman and reported she was 53. The Oct. 22 Eyewitness News story spelled it Ennice Nortman and also reported she was 53. The Oct. 27 Eyewitness News story uses Eunice.

Both papers place the strike on the Monday before those Oct. 22 stories, at Lichtenburg Mall in North West province. That Monday was Oct. 19, 2026. The Citizen reported it was in the mall parking lot. Eyewitness News reported on Oct. 22 that she had parked and walked toward a pedestrian crossing, and that video showed a white BMW SUV striking her. The Oct. 27 story reported video of the strike at a shopping centre. This account does not replay that video. Eyewitness News reported friends of Nortman gathered at court on Tuesday with placards and shirts, and that they oppose bail. Anton van Eeden told the station, "A very loving, caring person. Always willing to assist anybody." A gathering outside court is not a bail decision. The murder count, the immigration count, and the licence count are charges. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Lakeland police charged boxer Edgar Berlanga with aggravated battery after an Oct. 18 argument in Polk County.

The two counts are charges from an Oct. 18 allegation. BoxingScene has the charge titles, the bail, and the arraignment time. The New York Post has the affidavit's account of a pistol and a woman who got away to a 7-Eleven. An affidavit is not a conviction. She is not named here.

An FBI agent fatally shot Chadwick Clark during a Dixmoor warrant operation, and the FBI says the shooting is under review.

The FBI account is an agent-involved shooting, one person dead, no agent hurt, and an internal review. The family's account that Clark was unarmed, and a police source's count of people in custody, are not in the FBI statement. A review is not a charge.

Chief Judge Leigh Martin May sentenced Edwin Brant Frost IV to 15 years in the First Liberty fraud.

Monday's term is the sentence on a guilty plea to one count of wire fraud. It is not a jury verdict. The U.S. Attorney's Office, FOX 5 Atlanta, and The Citizen print the same restitution figure. The Newnan Times-Herald prints a figure that is fifty dollars lower.
