eNCA reported Andrea Johnson and Feroz Khan were granted R10,000 bail in Pretoria.

eNCA reported Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at 14:50, that Andrea Johnson and Feroz Khan received R10,000 bail in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court and that the case was postponed to Feb. 2, 2027. EWN reported R10,000 each and a postponement to February. Both called the accusation defeating the ends of justice. A person in EWN's background is not named.

Bail the state did not oppose is a release condition on eNCA's account. EWN did not print that the state stood aside, and it did not print Feb. 2. eNCA did not print the word each, and it did not print the NPA Act count EWN reported against Johnson.

eNCA reported Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at 14:50pm, that former IDAC head Andrea Johnson and former senior police officer Feroz Khan were granted R10,000 bail after a brief appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court. eNCA reported the state did not oppose release on bail. It reported the two were arrested Friday morning for defeating the ends of justice, and that the matter was postponed to Feb. 2, 2027, for further investigations. eNCA did not print the word each next to R10,000. It did not print what defeating the ends of justice is alleged to consist of, beyond that charge. The clock time is printed as 14:50pm.

EWN reported Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at 13:15, in a story by Karinda Jagmohan, that Johnson and Khan were granted bail of R10,000 each. R10,000 each is not the figure eNCA printed, which did not say each. EWN reported they appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday and that the matter was postponed to February next year. February next year is not the date Feb. 2, 2027. EWN reported they are accused of defeating the ends of justice. It reported the matter is in relation to Khan's alleged assault of a female brigadier in 2018, and that Johnson is alleged to have shared details of investigations into Khan with him. The brigadier is not named here. An allegation in that sentence is not a finding that an assault happened, and it is not the charge eNCA printed for Friday's arrest. EWN reported the National Prosecuting Authority's Kaizer Kganyago confirmed Johnson has been charged with contravening the NPA Act. It printed his statement that, at the time of the alleged offence, Johnson was not the head of IDAC and was at the DPP office in Pretoria, and that she is alleged to have given information she was not supposed to give, so that the accused person could prepare. eNCA's "former senior police officer" and EWN's "dismissed crime intelligence deputy," for Khan, are not the same title. eNCA did not print the NPA Act count, the DPP office, or Kganyago. EWN's 13:15 story did not print a Friday-morning arrest or that the state did not oppose bail.

What eNCA reported is an arrest Friday morning, a charge of defeating the ends of justice, bail of R10,000, and a postponement to Feb. 2, 2027. What EWN added is a separate NPA Act count against Johnson, bail described as R10,000 each, and a February postponement without a day. None of that is a conviction. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Official portrait of former FBI Director James Comey
Trials

By Crime Talk Network Staff Writer

Judge Trevor McFadden took James Comey's motion to dismiss the Espionage Act information under advisement.

An information is a prosecutor's charging document. It is not a grand-jury indictment, and it is not a conviction. McFadden did not grant or deny the motion on Friday. The fight is whether filing that information on the last day of a 10-year limitations period lets the government keep seeking an indictment, and the two accounts do not print the same thing about whether prosecutors are in front of a grand jury now.

Judge Ada E. Brown at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing
Trials

By Crime Talk Network Staff Writer

A Fifth Circuit committee ordered Judge Ada Brown to a psychiatric exam, and the council reassigned her docket.

The Sept. 29 order is an administrative reassignment under 28 U.S.C. § 332(d). It is not a medical diagnosis, and the order says it is separate from whatever the council does when the committee files its report. Judge Haynes abstained, and Chief Judge Debra Brown voted no on procedural grounds. Bloomberg Law, the ABA Journal, and Fox News identify the lawyer in the redacted hearing item as Ezra Young.

Federal prosecutors charged Hanh Minh Nguyen with animal crushing in the Santa Ana puppy case.

The federal count is a criminal complaint for animal crushing, and the Orange County counts are felony accusations. Neither is a conviction, and she has not been sentenced in either court. The District Attorney's release says the puppy was 9 weeks old and that she was arrested Thursday, Oct. 2. CBS Los Angeles says the puppy was about 9 months old and that she was arrested Oct. 1. Those ages are not the same age, and those dates are not the same date.
