Orange County prosecutors charged Ismael Pinedalopez with murder in the stabbing death of Nicholas Garcia.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, of Anaheim, was charged with murder and a personal-use-of-a-weapon enhancement in the Oct. 24 death of Nicholas Garcia, 28. FOX 11 Los Angeles reported Garcia was from Whittier. The office said the maximum is 26 years to life if he is convicted. None of the accounts reported a plea.

A murder count and a weapon enhancement are the charging paper. They are not a finding that he killed Garcia, and they are not a sentence. The Oct. 27 release said arraignment was set for that day. FOX 11's story the next morning still described arraignment as ahead. Until a plea is in the record, the case is at the front of the calendar.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office said in a release dated Oct. 27, 2026, that Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, of Anaheim, was charged with one felony count of murder and a felony enhancement for personal use of a weapon. The office said he faces a maximum of 26 years to life in state prison if convicted on all counts. It said Senior Deputy District Attorney Mark Birney of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting. FOX 11 Los Angeles, in a story published Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. PDT, reported the same count, the same enhancement, and the same maximum. NBC Los Angeles, in a story published Oct. 27 and updated Oct. 28 at 9:12 a.m., called the enhancement a sentencing enhancement for personally using a weapon. A charging document is the state's accusation. It is not a verdict.
The office said that on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, Anaheim police were called about a stabbing at a home in the 700 block of N. Pine Street and found a bloodied Pinedalopez. It said officers found the body of Nicholas Garcia, 28, inside the bedroom Pinedalopez shared with his wife and their two children, ages 2 and 4. The release described the children as a daughter and a son. They are not named here. The office said Garcia had been stabbed multiple times, and that Pinedalopez's wife and the two children were not hurt. FOX 11 reported Garcia was from Whittier. NBC Los Angeles did not print a hometown for him. FOX 11 put the home in the 700 block of North Pine Street. NBC Los Angeles put the call on North Pine Street near W. Wilhelmina Street. Those are two descriptions of one block.
The office said Pinedalopez came home from work early and found Garcia in his underwear in bed with the defendant's wife, along with the two young children. FOX 11 reported an investigation found he arrived home early from work and confronted Garcia, who police say was in his underwear in bed with his wife, while the children were present. NBC Los Angeles reported prosecutors said he returned home early from work, discovered Garcia wearing only his underwear in bed with his wife and the two children, confronted him, and stabbed him multiple times with a pocketknife. The office's release and FOX 11 also said the weapon was a pocketknife. NBC Los Angeles reported Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. That is the prosecution account at charging. He has not been convicted of it.
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said, "Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home." FOX 11 and NBC Los Angeles printed the same sentence. The Oct. 27 release said Pinedalopez was scheduled to be arraigned that day. NBC Los Angeles, in the story updated the next morning, still wrote that he was scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 27. FOX 11's Oct. 28 story said he is scheduled for arraignment, in the future tense. None of those accounts reported a plea. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Multnomah County district attorney declined to prosecute Officer Daniel Hall in the fatal shooting of Eric Jonathan Hurtado.
Thursday's memo is the district attorney's decision not to present the shooting to a grand jury. It is not the Police Review Board's review, and Hall remains on administrative leave. The Oregonian's account of the memo moves from the St. Honore Bakery to the Oregon Wines store, the Dossier Hotel, and then the Vintage Hotel. KATU named the Kimpton Hotel Vintage at 422 S.W. Broadway. Those are not one address.

The Toronto Star reported David Morton and his daughters were shot in a Bridle Path home invasion.
Thursday's police account did not name the family. Friday's Star account did. CBC's 3:43 a.m. and CP24's around 3:45 a.m. are not the same clock. CBC's Thursday hammer account and CP24's Friday hammer account do not name the same people. The Daily Mail video put the break-in on Sunday.

A Hopkins County grand jury returned a no true bill for Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker.
A no true bill is the grand jury's decision not to indict. It is not a trial verdict. Insufficient evidence, in the Messenger's account of the release, and insufficient probable cause, in WFIE's story, are not the same words. About eight hours, several hours, and around nine hours are not the same length of time. The child is not named here.
