Friday's guilty verdict is the jury's finding on voluntary manslaughter. December 4 is the sentencing date FOX13 printed, without a year. Guilty as charged, which WREG printed, and a 2024 first-degree murder booking, which FOX13 printed, are not the same charge. The affidavit allegations from the arrest are not the verdict.
FOX13 Memphis reported Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, in a story by Andy Lockley, that the Shelby County District Attorney's Office said a Memphis man was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in a 2023 shooting. The station reported Khiry Hill was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter by a Shelby County jury on Friday in the November 2023 death of Maurice Robertson. It reported he is set to be sentenced on December 4. The story does not print a year on that date, and it does not print which Friday. The publication date was Wednesday, Oct. 28. The Friday before that publication was Oct. 23. WREG reported that a Shelby County jury found Khiry Hill guilty as charged of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Maurice Robertson, according to the district attorney's office, and said the story would be updated. WREG did not print a weekday, a sentencing date, or an age. A guilty verdict is the jury's finding. December 4 is the date FOX13 says he is set to be sentenced.
FOX13's Oct. 28 story reported that, according to court records, Hill and Robertson had gotten into a car crash several weeks before the shooting, and that the victim's sister told police the two had been "in conflict" leading up to the shooting, including physical fights and gunfire. The sister is not named here. The station reported Robertson was found lying on the ground next to his wheelchair with multiple gunshot wounds. Those sentences are what the station said the records showed. They are the setting the verdict story gave. They are not a written judgment.
FOX13's March 6, 2024 story reported Khiry J. Hill, 34, was booked Tuesday into the Shelby County jail and charged with first-degree murder, according to an affidavit. March 6, 2024, was a Wednesday, so the Tuesday in that sentence is March 5. The Oct. 28 story did not print an age, a middle initial, or a first-degree murder count. It reported a voluntary-manslaughter verdict. WREG's phrase was guilty as charged of voluntary manslaughter. A first-degree murder booking in 2024 and a voluntary-manslaughter conviction are not the same count. Neither Oct. 28 account said the jury acquitted him of murder.
The March 6 story reported court documents allege Hill shot and killed Maurice Robertson on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. The headline on that story put the killing in South Memphis. The Oct. 28 story said November 2023 and did not print Nov. 7 or South Memphis. The March 6 story said the shooting appeared to have stemmed from a car crash a couple weeks earlier. The Oct. 28 story said several weeks. A couple weeks and several weeks are not the same interval. The March 6 story reported court records allege that a day earlier Robertson's sister went to Hill's house and told him to take "their issues to the street because she didn't want anyone shooting at her momma's residence," and that Hill allegedly told her, "Maurice shot me and I'm going to kill him tonight." It reported a neighbor later identified Hill as the alleged shooter. Those are allegations in the records FOX13 described at the arrest. They are not what the Oct. 28 story said the jury found. Friday's verdict is the finding on voluntary manslaughter. December 4 is the sentencing date. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Judge Trevor McFadden took James Comey's motion to dismiss the Espionage Act information under advisement.
An information is a prosecutor's charging document. It is not a grand-jury indictment, and it is not a conviction. McFadden did not grant or deny the motion on Friday. The fight is whether filing that information on the last day of a 10-year limitations period lets the government keep seeking an indictment, and the two accounts do not print the same thing about whether prosecutors are in front of a grand jury now.

A Fifth Circuit committee ordered Judge Ada Brown to a psychiatric exam, and the council reassigned her docket.
The Sept. 29 order is an administrative reassignment under 28 U.S.C. § 332(d). It is not a medical diagnosis, and the order says it is separate from whatever the council does when the committee files its report. Judge Haynes abstained, and Chief Judge Debra Brown voted no on procedural grounds. Bloomberg Law, the ABA Journal, and Fox News identify the lawyer in the redacted hearing item as Ezra Young.

Federal prosecutors charged Hanh Minh Nguyen with animal crushing in the Santa Ana puppy case.
The federal count is a criminal complaint for animal crushing, and the Orange County counts are felony accusations. Neither is a conviction, and she has not been sentenced in either court. The District Attorney's release says the puppy was 9 weeks old and that she was arrested Thursday, Oct. 2. CBS Los Angeles says the puppy was about 9 months old and that she was arrested Oct. 1. Those ages are not the same age, and those dates are not the same date.
