Richland County deputies charged Malik Ansaar with murder in the April shooting of Jibrael Sesay.

The State reported Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that Ansaar, 30, was arrested Monday on Forest Drive and charged in the April 19 death of Sesay, 34, of Columbia. WIS and ABC Columbia reported the same three charges. The State reported jail records show bond was denied.

Monday's counts are the accusations the sheriff's department announced. They are not a finding that Ansaar shot Sesay. The State called the gun discovery a search and said it was not clear the gun was used in the shooting. ABC Columbia called it an inventory. WIS said Devante Walker and Leroy Mclamore were both arrested April 20. The State said Mclamore was arrested April 22.

The State reported Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, that the Richland County Sheriff's Department identified Malik Ansaar, 30, as the third suspect in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Columbia resident Jibrael Sesay. It reported that on Monday, members of the Fugitive Task Force located Ansaar driving on Forest Drive, stopped him, and took him into custody without incident. WIS reported Ansaar, 30, was pulled over on Forest Drive Monday morning, that investigators found a stolen gun in his car, and that he was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. ABC Columbia reported Sheriff Leon Lott said another person had been arrested, that the task force located Ansaar traveling on Forest Drive the morning of Oct. 26 and stopped him, and that he was taken into custody without incident. All three reported the charges: murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a stolen handgun. ABC Columbia did not print Ansaar's age. The State and WIS did.

The April shooting is told in detail by The State, from the department's release. It reported that on April 19, Sesay was found behind the wheel of a vehicle that crashed in the 3800 block of Humphrey Drive, in northeast Columbia, not far from Two Notch Road. It reported deputies found a car that had struck a tree, that an unresponsive man inside was later identified by the Richland County coroner as Sesay, that EMS discovered he had been shot in the upper body, and that he was taken to a hospital and later died. WIS reported the fatal shooting occurred April 19 at Humphrey Drive and did not print the block, the tree, the coroner, or Sesay's name. ABC Columbia reported deputies said the murder happened April 19, 2026, on Humphrey Drive, and its story did not name the man who died. The name, the age 34, the 3800 block, the tree, and the hospital death are The State's account.

The two earlier arrests are where The State and WIS split. The State reported that before Monday, Devante Walker, 27, and Leroy Mclamore, 29, had each been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. It reported Walker was taken into custody April 20 and booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, and that Mclamore was arrested April 22 and also taken to that jail. It reported jail records show both were denied bond and remain there, and that Ansaar was also denied bond and remains at the detention center. WIS reported Walker and Mclamore were arrested on April 20. It did not print ages, and it did not mention bond. ABC Columbia's story on Ansaar did not recount the earlier arrests. The State and WIS both reported investigators said no outstanding suspects remain. The State reported there was no word on a motive, or on whether Ansaar, Walker, and Mclamore knew Sesay.

The gun is a separate accusation from the shooting. The State reported investigators found a stolen gun during a search of Ansaar's vehicle, and that it was not clear whether that gun was used in the shooting of Sesay. ABC Columbia reported the stolen gun was found during an inventory of the vehicle. WIS reported investigators found a stolen gun in the car and did not use the word search or the word inventory. A stolen-handgun count is one of the three charges. It is not, in The State's account, an identification of the weapon that killed Sesay. The murder counts against Ansaar, Walker, and Mclamore are the charges those outlets reported. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Lakeland police charged boxer Edgar Berlanga with aggravated battery after an Oct. 18 argument in Polk County.

The two counts are charges from an Oct. 18 allegation. BoxingScene has the charge titles, the bail, and the arraignment time. The New York Post has the affidavit's account of a pistol and a woman who got away to a 7-Eleven. An affidavit is not a conviction. She is not named here.

An FBI agent fatally shot Chadwick Clark during a Dixmoor warrant operation, and the FBI says the shooting is under review.

The FBI account is an agent-involved shooting, one person dead, no agent hurt, and an internal review. The family's account that Clark was unarmed, and a police source's count of people in custody, are not in the FBI statement. A review is not a charge.

Chief Judge Leigh Martin May sentenced Edwin Brant Frost IV to 15 years in the First Liberty fraud.

Monday's term is the sentence on a guilty plea to one count of wire fraud. It is not a jury verdict. The U.S. Attorney's Office, FOX 5 Atlanta, and The Citizen print the same restitution figure. The Newnan Times-Herald prints a figure that is fifty dollars lower.
