Two aggravated-assault counts are the charging paper. They are not a finding that he stabbed the two people, and they are not a sentence. CBS Austin put the arrest on a walking trail near Rosewood and Chestnut. KXAN put it after questioning at the scene. KVUE put him by those avenues and did not print the trail or the crash. No plea was reported.
CBS Austin reported Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, in a story timestamped 5:11 a.m. and updated at 10:48 a.m., that Shankar Temple Grace faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the Travis County Jail. Those timestamps do not print a time zone. The story, by Tara Brolley, calls him a 20-year-old. KVUE reported the same age, the same two counts, and the same jail in a story published at 11:06 a.m. CDT by Morgan McGrath. KXAN's post, first filed at 10:25 p.m. CDT Wednesday and modified at 12:08 p.m. CDT Thursday, reported that police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Shankar Temple Grace and that he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The photo caption on that post reads, "Mugshot of Shankar T Grace (APD photo)." Temple and the initial T are not the same rendering. KXAN's post lists Ethan Love, Warren Brown, and Julianna Russ. A charging document is the state's accusation. It is not a verdict. No plea was reported.
KXAN reported that as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday both were in stable condition, and that one had life-threatening injuries and the other had non-life-threatening injuries when Austin-Travis County EMS took them to hospitals. CBS Austin's 10:48 a.m. update said both are now in stable condition, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with injuries that were not life-threatening. KVUE at 11:06 a.m. CDT reported the same split and said both were stable. KVUE also said the victims have not been identified. CBS Austin and KXAN did not print their names. They are not named here.
CBS Austin reported officers were called at about 8:54 p.m. Wednesday to a disturbance at Buzz Mill Coffee, 1505 Town Creek Drive, and called the shop southeast Austin. KVUE reported Austin police described a "disturbance hot shot" at around 8:55 p.m. at the same address, and also called it southeast Austin. KVUE's dek said two people were stabbed shortly before 9 p.m. KXAN reported officers responded around 8:55 p.m. at The Buzz Mill, at that address, and called the area east Austin. 8:54 and 8:55 are one minute apart. Shortly before 9 is KVUE's dek, not a third dispatch time. Southeast and east are not the same direction. Buzz Mill Coffee and The Buzz Mill are two names for the address all three printed.
CBS Austin reported a witness told police the man was dressed in zombie makeup and a zombie costume, that he fled in a pickup truck at high speed, and that he hit an unoccupied Tesla Cybercab. It reported officers later found and arrested him on a walking trail near Rosewood and Chestnut avenues. KXAN reported people interviewed by officers said the suspect was wearing a "zombie-style costume," that he left in a pickup truck at a high rate of speed, and that he crashed into an unoccupied autonomous vehicle. It reported he was subsequently arrested after being questioned at the scene. KXAN did not print makeup, Tesla, Cybercab, a walking trail, or Rosewood and Chestnut. KVUE reported police found him by Rosewood and Chestnut avenues. It did not print a trail, a costume, a pickup, or a crash. A walking trail, those two avenues, and questioning at the scene are three accounts of the arrest. An unoccupied Tesla Cybercab and an unoccupied autonomous vehicle are two descriptions of a crash KVUE did not mention.
CBS Austin reported people at the coffee shop told police he had caused a disturbance there before Wednesday night, and that police could not provide details about any prior incidents. KXAN reported those people said he had caused at least one disturbance before Wednesday. KVUE reported it is unclear exactly what led up to the incident and did not mention an earlier disturbance. CBS Austin reported detectives are working to determine whether he had any relationship with the victims. KVUE and KXAN did not print that question. CBS Austin and KVUE asked anyone with information to call the Austin Police Department's Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245. KXAN's story did not print that number. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Multnomah County district attorney declined to prosecute Officer Daniel Hall in the fatal shooting of Eric Jonathan Hurtado.
Thursday's memo is the district attorney's decision not to present the shooting to a grand jury. It is not the Police Review Board's review, and Hall remains on administrative leave. The Oregonian's account of the memo moves from the St. Honore Bakery to the Oregon Wines store, the Dossier Hotel, and then the Vintage Hotel. KATU named the Kimpton Hotel Vintage at 422 S.W. Broadway. Those are not one address.

The Toronto Star reported David Morton and his daughters were shot in a Bridle Path home invasion.
Thursday's police account did not name the family. Friday's Star account did. CBC's 3:43 a.m. and CP24's around 3:45 a.m. are not the same clock. CBC's Thursday hammer account and CP24's Friday hammer account do not name the same people. The Daily Mail video put the break-in on Sunday.

A Hopkins County grand jury returned a no true bill for Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker.
A no true bill is the grand jury's decision not to indict. It is not a trial verdict. Insufficient evidence, in the Messenger's account of the release, and insufficient probable cause, in WFIE's story, are not the same words. About eight hours, several hours, and around nine hours are not the same length of time. The child is not named here.
