WCTV reported Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, at 11:47 a.m. EDT, in a story bylined WCTV Staff, that a third life sentence was delivered Wednesday in the fatal 2024 shooting of a Tallahassee man. The station reported a trial this week for Walter Hodge came back with a guilty verdict for first-degree murder and the corresponding sentence. It reported he was already serving a 5-year sentence for an Alachua County weapons charge. It reported he was one of four men charged in the Feb. 2024 murder of Michael Long, and that they are accused of luring Long outside his home and attempting to rob him before shooting him 9 times. The numeral is the station's. It reported Kadeem Phillips and Jordan Presley have already been sentenced to life in prison earlier this year, and that Jvashni Desanges has yet to stand trial. The station did not name the judge. It did not print Hodge's age. It did not say whether the life term runs with the 5-year sentence or after it. It did not print a parole date. A guilty verdict and the corresponding sentence are what that story reported as Wednesday's result.
WCTV's Monday story, published Oct. 26, 2026, at 3:56 p.m. EDT and also bylined WCTV Staff, reported a jury was selected that day for Walter Hodge, the third of four suspects to be tried in the fatal shooting of a man on Parbrook Court. That story did not print Michael Long's name. It reported Jordan Presley and Kadeem Phillips were tried in February and sentenced to life in prison. Thursday's story names Phillips first. Monday's story names Presley first. Earlier this year and in February are not the same specificity. Monday's story reported the trial was set for Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. It reported Desanges has not been tried, and that court records show he testified against Phillips and Presley. Thursday's story did not mention that testimony. The Thursday headline, the page title, and the social title spell the street Parkbrook Court. The Thursday web address uses parbrook. The Monday headline and the Monday story spell Parbrook Court. The Thursday story's body does not print a street name. Parkbrook and Parbrook are not the same spelling.
The life sentence WCTV reported Wednesday is the judgment on Hodge's guilty verdict. Phillips and Presley were already sentenced to life. Desanges has not stood trial. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Judge Trevor McFadden took James Comey's motion to dismiss the Espionage Act information under advisement.
An information is a prosecutor's charging document. It is not a grand-jury indictment, and it is not a conviction. McFadden did not grant or deny the motion on Friday. The fight is whether filing that information on the last day of a 10-year limitations period lets the government keep seeking an indictment, and the two accounts do not print the same thing about whether prosecutors are in front of a grand jury now.

A Fifth Circuit committee ordered Judge Ada Brown to a psychiatric exam, and the council reassigned her docket.
The Sept. 29 order is an administrative reassignment under 28 U.S.C. § 332(d). It is not a medical diagnosis, and the order says it is separate from whatever the council does when the committee files its report. Judge Haynes abstained, and Chief Judge Debra Brown voted no on procedural grounds. Bloomberg Law, the ABA Journal, and Fox News identify the lawyer in the redacted hearing item as Ezra Young.

The federal count is a criminal complaint for animal crushing, and the Orange County counts are felony accusations. Neither is a conviction, and she has not been sentenced in either court. The District Attorney's release says the puppy was 9 weeks old and that she was arrested Thursday, Oct. 2. CBS Los Angeles says the puppy was about 9 months old and that she was arrested Oct. 1. Those ages are not the same age, and those dates are not the same date.
