Police have described this as a domestic confrontation and have said little else. They have not named the man who died or explained how he and Johnson knew each other. Johnson is charged, not convicted, and the investigation is ongoing.

Robert B. Johnson, 27, of Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, has been charged with murder after a 32-year-old man was shot in Madisonville late Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, the Madisonville Police Department said in a press release reported by WFIE, The Messenger and WPKY. The Messenger reported the release said Hopkins County Central Dispatch received the report of a shooting on Eastside Lane at 11:56 p.m.

Officers found the man with a gunshot wound and gave him medical aid, police said. He was treated at the scene and taken to Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, where he later died, WFIE and The Messenger reported. WPKY reported police have not released his name. Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a domestic confrontation, according to the release. Police have not described the relationship between the two men.

Johnson was identified as the suspect and taken into custody without incident, police said. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on a murder charge, The Messenger reported. WFIE reported jail records show he is being held on a $1 million bond. The Messenger reported the Madisonville Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted police.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, WFIE and WPKY reported. No court date was reported Sunday. The murder charge is an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Montclair police arrested Valentin Alberto Rodriguez after a driver hit a Halloween group bike ride and killed two riders.

Police have an arrest on suspicion, not a filed criminal complaint. The San Bernardino County district attorney decides what charges, if any, are filed. Witness accounts of a rider being dragged for about a mile are in some reports and not in the police release. Two people are dead, and their names have not been released.
